Travelling does not make any sense if you don't try to learn a bit about the country you are visiting. History is only a part of all you learn. There is more you can learn as their culture, ideology, religion, way of life.... and you can practis other languages if you are learning some.

Yes when I revisited my former hometown of Hayward Ca then went to a Museum. I learned that their use to be a defunct community within the city called Russell City with a population of mostly African Americans. The community was demolished in the 1960's for a Industrial Park.

yes. Whenever I visit a place first I read about the place I am visiting. This gives some rough idea about the place, their customs, traditions, regular routine work etc so that we can avoid unnecessary trouble during our stay in a particular place.
