She collapsed and I panicked

Today I went to the supermarket with my cousin. We were at the counter waiting in the queue when she told me that she was not feeling well. I told her to go and wait for me in the car. She had barely taken a few steps when she collapsed. I panicked and immediately rushed to her. The First Aid team offered her a cup of water with some sugar dissolved in it and she regained consciousness within minutes. Her blood pressure was low and I think it was due to the hot weather. The staffs at the supermarket were very helpful. Today was a very hectic day.

Lucky you had help with your cousin. Glad you had that First Aid Team with you. Low blood pressure can make you feel quite ill I know I have it sometimes.

If the first aid team wouldnt have been here i don't know what i would have done. Low BP can be quite dangerous too

@Nawsheen With any luck it was just the heat but it can shock you to see someone go down like that. A girl by me when I was having a baby fell right on the floor and fainted as soon as she saw them taking blood out my arm. I was really upset. If I had known I would have tried to turn around a bit more as not to scare her.

That is what we have been telling her to go and see and doctor. But she is insisting that it is because of the heat

It's a good thing you have seen her collapsed. I hope she didn't bang her head on the floor.

i hope she's right that it's only the heat. it would be better if she went to the doctor to make sure it's nothing else, but the reality is we can't really make someone go if they don't want to.

@Nawsheen How is she now? You reminded me of a similar incident that had taken place with me a few years back. While talking to my friends I suddenly felt uneasy and within seconds fell down unconscious. My friends sprayed cold water on my face and gave me water mixed with glucose to drink and then I could regain sense. That incident also had happened in summer season.I still remember the temperature on that day was 46 C.....Is your friend well now?

I feel so sorry for you. Glucose is very effective in those cases. She is doing fine now. She went to see a doctor and had a blood test which showed that she was anaemic. She is taking iron supplements now

Oh how is she doing now? This incident made me remember my friend who also collapsed once in our college. She had donated blood and came out of the room, while she had not even covered a few steps she fell on the floor. Thank god we all friends took care of her. The doctor treated and said that she had calcium deficiency and she shouldn't have donated blood. It actually turned out to be a funny incident later. Instead of worrying, we were enjoying and laughing, including her

it is not due to the weather. She has not eaten or she has very low blood sugar. This happens a lot to those who take part in sports. Their bodies burn up all the carbohydrates, and glucose, and a lack of it sends the low pressure low.

@Nawsheen Blood glucose level changes all the time. She has to bring along sweets with her. Whenever she feels dizzy, she can take one sweet.
