It is almost a week since Easter has passed. I thought I would write this one anyway just for the heck of it. I am 32 years old and I am still very active with my family and my parents. My family ( my husband and children) spend every holiday with my parents. For many years my mother has had the tradition of going out and purchasing my children ( I have 4 of them) a baby chick for Easter. Now this is ok because like I said she has done this now for the past 11 years and I know enough about chickens by now to make sure i can keep them alive and healthy till they are big enough and ready to be transferred to my friends farm. ( she gets 4 new chickens and i get free eggs when ever) Whats my point you may ask. Well this year my mother switched it up on me a bit. Not only did she purchase the baby chicks she also decided it would be a great idea to get me and the husband a pet rabbit. I have no idea why this thought of all things came to her but hey if it makes her happy. So I now have four baby chicks, a rabbit and a cat. I feel like I live on a farm. However I believe that I have now acquired enough information on animals that I could write a book. or at least start my own pet information hotline. However at least you all now know that if you ever need information about pet rabbits and chicks im the girl you can come to. :)

There was a time when I would have wanted a whole lotta chickens but I lived in an apartment so that was out of the question. Now that I have a half acre and know some of the dos and don't of owning chickens I've decided to simply go to Costco and purchase eggs instead. I have 3 cats and a pup which is more than enough kritters for me plus they are furmily, I don't think chickens would understand being a part of that furmily .... hummm, I wonder what the cats would do with a chicken around, as for the pup, well, you can guess the answer to that, right?
There are a couple wild wabbits round here eatin what little grows, if I catch em do ya want em?

lol Thank you for the offer of the wild rabbits however I will have to humbly decline. The small farm I have living in my living space is quite enough at the moment. As far a the chickens I will only need to keep them for another couple weeks till they are ready to go to the forever home. my friend has been raising chickens for around 15 years. I love all animals I just do not want to keep them all.

@rebelann Yes you did. And a good try it was. However if you ever want to give the wild bunnies a treat other than what grows around, may I suggest an old tennis shoe. For some reason bunnies like them more than dogs

When I was younger we always had chicks, ducks and rabbits. It was a lot of fun. It was like a mini farm with all the animals but looking back now I had so many find memories of those times.

I hope that one day when my children have grown and moved on they will also look back on times like this. I will however be happy in a couple weeks when these chicks leave. the constant chirping is driving me nuts.
