As a country girl who lives in the city it truly sucks. However friday nights here still remain dedicated to country life and family. Our tradition may be silly to some but its a night we look forward to so much. We get together and have that unhealthy heart attack on a plate and once we have stuffed ourselves to the max we play cards and dice till midnight. Tell me does anyone else have weekend traditions? if so what are they?

The important thing is to connect with family or friends. I admire your weekly tradition.

We have been trying. Our thing is you never know how much time you have with someone. We want to create our memories.

Heart attack on a plate?? Food is good, so what makes it a heart attack?
I miss playing cards, my folks used to get us together to play all the time.

What I call a heart attack on a plate is actually good old fashioned fried food. Kind of food thats good for the soul but not good for the heart kind of thing. Tonight it was fried cat fish.

Yummmm, that's healthy food @AmethystD85 ..... I stopped fallin for all that crap researchers constantly throw at the public. Back in the late 70s or early 80s it was all about margarine bein healthy and butter was not until a few years ago when they said that margarine had ingredients in it similar to plastic, thank GOD I never ate margarine.
I'll bet that catfish was a heck of a lot healthier than some foods they're claiming is healthy.

@rebelann I only pay attention to some of the health aspects I kind of have to because of health reasons. I dont know how healthy the catfish was because it was dripping with grease but I do know it was good for my tummy.

My weekend traditions, during the regular and post season in the National Football League, consist of me watching these football games on TV.

My parents used to have a very similar Friday night tradition with their friends. I think they ate something different every week but they played cards all night long and had the best time! I think it's a great tradition! I'm still trying to find my own tradition to start. Last night, I watched a movie, so that just might become my Friday Night Tradition

@AmethystD85 Movie nights can be so much fun, especially if I can get a friend or two to join me! Make some popcorn. Maybe make a pizza. And voila! Tradition is born!

@CRK109 I have a family of 6. We make sure to have a family day at least one day a week. This is other than our friday night traditions. When the kids have chosen to do a movie night as a family night we make it a huge thing. I get popcorn and some popcorn boxes so everyone can have their own little popcorn, I go out and get everyone about two boxes of that movie candy stuff. ( you can get small boxes of movie candy for 89 cents at walmart) everyone gets a soda or some drink of there choice and we treat it like a night of going to the movie. The only difference is we can pause the movie for bathroom breaks and we can be comfortable in our own home. Now the reason I tell you this is because even though it sounds childish and for the children its a really fun experience for the adults too. If you get all kinds of treats that your friends like or even think about doing like an ice cream sunday bar with all the good toppings your movie night will be a complete success and keep your friends waiting for your next chill party. Its just an idea.

I can not remember how the tradition even got started. so I guess it was easy. movies are also a good way to go. that can be very relaxing.
