"Goodbye love handles. Hello love."

On many occasions when flipping through the TV channels finding something to watch, I will check the infomercials. Not to see what product to buy. I've never bought anything from TV and I doubt I ever will. I actually watch them to question and laugh at their marketing techniques. Some things that are said or done to try to convince people to buy their product makes me laugh or shake my head. For example: Watching someone struggling to do their house work. We watch them sighing and stressing trying to get it all done. The picture is all dull. Black and white. Until you see them using the new product which is all done in bright colours and happy faces. Or the before and after photos of women who've had their make up done. The before shot is usually them not smiling. Whereas the after shot of them is. You know, stuff like that. Anyway, I was watching some weight loss one. Can't remember what it was but a woman came on who obviously wasn't an actor. She spoke about how it was beneficial and yadda yadda yadda. Then she said something that really irritated me. "Goodbye love handles. Hello love." So basically you need to be fit to find love. I'm sorry but screw that! I believe that if we want to have a healthy body, then do things for that reason. But do we really need to have it in our faces all the time that having a good body means you're more likely to find romance? I don't mind if you agree or disagree with me. I just personally felt that technique was low and superficial. Body shape doesn't determine your love life. YES I know people usually like to have a partner who is healthy and fit yeah yeah I know but it still irritated me the way she said it and how most magazines will tell you that losing weight means finding love.

I have to completely agree with you on everything. I've seen kids in second-grade plays who are better actors! Having said that, I do miss Tony Little and his Gazelle.....

Yes they use those kind of info commercial adverts here also. Never seen anyone say anything about love handles though. No one has a body that is the same as anyone else. Love handles are interesting and part of us.

@VivaLaDani13 If we were all the same shape and size for everything it would be so boring I reckon. Those Adverts amuse me sometimes also.

I agree with you, that was a silly thing to say. Finding love depends on personality - both yours and the person you want to find love with.

A simple smile can make all the difference in a picture. I should know *wry smile* We used and I am sure still have these commercials where they go (as you said black and white and all sad looking ) :When I was short, I had no friends, People made fun of me. No one wanted to date me. blah blah blah" So yeah! This is what is called body shaming. Even the skin whitening creams that are supposed to make you several shades lighter in colour. Isn't that racist sort of?

@Daljinder I don't know actually. Never thought about that. Although, if the commercial was about tanning then that's about making you darker lol I don't know.

Goodbye Love Handles sounds like the coolest thing ever, but if you need to do that to find "love" , then I wonder what kind of love you've found... Appreciate this post

I'm sorry but this made me laugh so hard I nearly fell out of my chair. (And, no, I did not literally die laughing.) Did you know there is a country where if a woman isn't fat she is considered not marriageable? Actually I agree with you. Losing weight may get men to look at you but it won't necessarily bring you love.

@RichardMeister I am glad it made you laugh and not literally die. I didn't know that. I find that logic ludicrous.

Ridiculousness...just because a person loses weight doesn't mean she is going to find love. Love comes from within. You can find true love at any size. Self confidence is a wonderful think regardless of your size.

@_robin Yeah a lot of people fall for the techniques that sales people use. Sometimes it shocks me.
