Hi Jan. I have done this but I would not recommend it, at least this was my experience.
I fell in love with someone online and over the phone and it was a freaking disastrous adventure I tell you.
Never again for me.
But I guess yes, it is possible.

I guess we're both looking at it as, we're putting the time and effort into really getting to know each other. We are meeting face to face in 3 weeks.

I've had that happen to me, except that it was not by speaking on the phone. It was communicating via the Internet. Facebook and email to be exact.

I think yes because I've done it. Love isn't about looks or being together in person it's about the feeling the person gives you. I met my bf online and we were long distance for 3 years, and now we live together and have been together 3.5 years. I think it's very likely to fall in love with someone you have a connection with but haven't met as long as you go about it safely it'll be okay

I think this kind of relationship doesn't work out.

I think it's possible that you can fall in love with someone that you haven't met. But this kind of love is like a fantasy more...

But it can happen and it does every day, thats what everyone hopes for when they sign up, whilst there is a chance it's worth putting a bit of effort in.
Difficulty is there is no exact formula, who we think we are attracted too is just a wish list.
You could get on great online but when you meet up in person find they have an annoying habit or poor manners and as quick as that our attraction switch just turns off.
