I am still not sure what was wrong with my son's teacher but she was away for weeks. We were informed last week that she would be back today.
To welcome her back and to cheer her up, I was planning to get her a bunch of flowers... But then I wanted this to be from a student more than from a parent, so I changed my mind and asked my son to bring to school an Easter egg (she wasn't at school before Easter) for her.
It was good to see her back. I just hope that she will feel better after being away for a long time. She thanked my son for the egg. And hopefully his friends will not think that he is the teacher's pet.

That is so sweet of you i remember once getting a favorite teacher of mine i gift, she cried because she said in her 10 years of teaching she had never been given a gift by a student, i was so happy to have changed that she really was a great teacher, many had told me they did not like her and i never understood why

Oh, and I am sure she will still remember you. Not all teachers receive gifts. To be fair to all the teachers and non teaching staff at my son's school, every year at Xmas time I bought some thing (a big box of chocolate or a box of cherries) for them all to share. We left it in the staff room with my son's name on it...

The thought that counts isn't it? I remember there was a time I saw a male teacher threw away a pack of soap which was given to him as a Xmas present. So sad to see he didn't cherish that present.

That's very sweet of you and thoughtful to welcome her back. Your son will be proud of you and teacher's pet, don't worry it happens and he will go on with it.

I used to buy to gifts for my teachers each year for christmas. It is a kind of token to let thank the teacher for their efforts. There were not there only to teach us about the academics but also about life. You did a great thing by giving the egg to the teacher. I am sure that she was very happy about it

@atoz1to10 Of course not. They have worked very hard, but they have a life outside schools too.
Just the bad luck of the students to have different teachers in a school year.

I hope so too. Last year my son's teacher was pregnant and now this... I just feel sorry for the students but then we can't really blame the teachers can we...

Yes, I saw a couple of parents came to the room to talk to her, but no children so hopefully my son would make her first day back better.

I think that was a lovely gesture from you, it will do the teacher good to know she was missed @atoz1to10 .

i don't think giving the teacher a present in the form of an egg will be construed as a teacher's pet. if the teacher is good and kind, it is nice to acknowledge the good work of the teacher through gifts.

In some countries I know you have to give gifts to the teachers otherwise your school year will be bad. Here in Australia it's up to the children to give or not to give (and I think it's up to the parents too since they are paying for the gifts.) But yes, it is always good to receive gift from any one.. Are you still at school?

@ShifaLk Students here do give teachers flowers sometimes, but the flowers are either from their gardens or someone else's..
