Thinking Straight, Herding Ducks, and Needing Sleep, by Huckleberry the Cat, Kitty Blogger

Needing Sleep
April 26, 2017 4:23pm CST
Shh! Quiet meows from Huckleberry the Cat, Kitty Blogger. My mama has been very busy, although I’m not sure exactly busy at what. I think it has something to do with herding ducks, even though I haven’t actually seen any ducks to herd. Mama seems to think she is getting ducks somehow logically organized, but get real. My mother? Organized? I don’t think so. It finally (she says) looks like we are almost ready to invest more in our business, and what our business needs most is time. And she seems to think that she has ordered some. I’m a bit puzzled. The best I can figure, we’re waiting for time to come in the mail. I’m supposed to remind her to check the mailbox. In the meantime, she decided to invest in the second-most pressing need: sleep. I totally agree. If she was going to think straight, she said after lunch, she needed a nap. I don’t think one nap is going to do the trick. Writing, research, and techie stuff await right after these invisible ducks get organized and we get time out of the mailbox. That’s what she says. I’ll keep you apprised. In the meantime, don’t wake her up. She needs her sleep. Sincerely, Huckleberry the Cat, Kitty Blogger Content and Photo © Huckleberry the Cat, Kitty Blogger, and Debbi Craton

Dearest Huckie - I must admit, I'm totally confused about what your mom is trying to do. I don't know much about ducks myself, nor what in the world they have to do with naps, times and mailboxes. What I would suggest, since your mom doesn't seem to be making much sense now, is that you take even more naps until your mom gets those ducks settled. Have you seen the ducks? Are they yellow like the ones some people have in their bathtubs? I'm as confused as you are. Sending you some extra high fives. Luv, Auntie Mildred the Cat.

@OldRoadsOnceTraveled Dear Hucklebear the Perplexed. I don't think you're the only one who's perplexed here! Do ducks fly? I don't think I've ever seen a duck so I wouldn't know one if I saw one. Yes, lots and lots of naps - always an excellent solution to any situation. Luv, Auntie Mildred the Cat.

Working on a nap
@LindaCPearson Dearest Auntie Mildred the Cat, I have no idea what is going on. Right now my immediate concerns are (1) nap time, (2) cat food, and (3) cat litter. Mama says there is cat food and cat litter to last until the ducks come in a few days. I don't know what that means, but clearly there are not enough naps to last until then. I'm working on it. Love, Huckleberry the Cat

Dearest Auntie Mildred the Cat, I'm with you. I haven't seen any of these ducks, so I can't prove they actually exist. The last time she talked about ducks, they seem to all have flown away before they actually got to my house. I think naps are the perfect solution. Lots and lots of naps. If it leads to more catnip, I'm all for this duck herding business. But if it doesn't, the napping will not be in vain. Love, Hucklebear the Perplexed

Deares Hucks, It is all most confusing. Is your Mom starting a duck farm? You might have to be a duck cat. You can have fun herding them like a sheep dog. Lovr from your Auntie Freya the Catblog Catx

@OldRoadsOnceTraveled Huckie - stay away from any duck herding jobs, any jobs for that matter. From what I hear, napping is NOT allowed when working. What happens if you get tired and need a nap? Luv, Auntie Mildred.

Dearest Auntie Freya the Catblog Cat, I have no idea what she has in her head. She said something about a cushion for this month. I think that would be a wonderful place to nap. Duck farming sounds very unpredictable and like it would be an awfully lot of work. Love, Huckleberry the Cat

Sounds a bit of a confused household at the moment. I'm sure the sleep will help.

I agree. She got up after two naps. She should have stayed for the full 8 hour nap like me. Sincerely, Huckleberry the Cat

Dear Huck, Our next door neighbour feeds the ducks and they can be very loud. However, they also get the left over cat food. I visit regularly and as long as I don't chase them, I am allowed to have first pick of the cat food before them. This is as it should be - Morpheus

Dear Morpheus, I'd better get rid of those ducks then. Your friend, Huckleberry the Cat. Kitty Blogger

Dearest Huckie - I think I might have solved one of your issues with your mom. I've learned over the years that humans often say things like getting ducks in a row, when actually never a duck is involved. It is, among many, just a crazy saying, sort of a teaser to we cats who are hoping to see some ducks close up, perhaps even play with them. Don't believe everything your mom says. Luv, Auntie Mildred the Cat.
