Time for a new music series, and for the first time, it will not be a "favorite" countdown, because that would just seem a little morbid. Based upon an idea by @JudyEv in an Otis Redding discussion (and Redding will not be included because I just wrote about him yesterday,) here are ten Music Plane Crash Victims. #10 starts us off with Glenn Miller.
Glenn Miller was an American Big Band leader, musician (trombone,) arranger, and composer whose career lasted from 1923 to 1944, when his plane went missing over the English Channel while on the way to entertain Allied troops in France during World War II.
Miller was the best-selling recording artist from 1939-1943, famous for classic songs such as "In the Mood," "Moonlight Serenade," "Pennsylvania 6-5000," and "Chattanooga Choo Choo." In fact, "In the Mood," "Moonlight Serenade," and "Chattanooga Choo Choo" are in the Grammy Hall of Fame.
Miller also led a band in the Army Air Force, where he attained the rank of Major, and was awarded a posthumous Bronze Star.
Both Frank Sinatra and Mel Torme cited Glenn Miller as an influence, while jazz legend Louis Armstrong took tapes of Miller's recordings with him while on tour.
(Fun Fact: Miller was a student at the University of Colorado in Boulder. The campus houses Boulder's largest ballroom, the Glenn Miller Ballroom, a concert and banquet venue. I've been there. It's very nice, a fitting tribute to one of CU's most famous students.)

My dad is a die-hard country music fan (where do you think I got it from?), but one of the non-country albums we had was The Best of Glenn Miller.

@teamfreak16 -- not once I took over control of the console. But hey, I was just seven, so I didn't appreciate Glenn Miller as much as Roger Miller back then....

My late father was a huge fan of the late Glenn Miller's music and other Big Band artists of that era.

Oh no, I didn't know he went missing in an airplane. I like Big Band sometimes and Glen Miller is at the top of my list when I listen to it
