Being Smart

I went to see my Doctor today.
When I was in her consultation room, I noticed that a couple of her fingers being covered with bandaids. Being a caring person I asked her what was wrong with them. She told me that she had eczema and it hurt her fingers (dry and broken skin).
Since I have the same problem, I shared my special treatment with her. She just kept nodding her head in a polite way with a smile on her face.
Once I left the room and thought about it I felt so silly.
Why on earth did I do that for? She is a doctor and I am her patient. She doesnt need a patient to tell her what to do with her skin.
Have I tried to be smart at the wrong place with the wrong person? Have you been in similiar situation before?

You were just trying to help. Plus, not all doctors are good doctors where they know almost everything

Yes, I agree. Just like my mum used to have problem with her heart yet her doctor kept telling her that she was OK, until later on we/he found out that she was not.

Don't we always say sharing is caring?

i think you made the right decision. not all doctors can find treatment to their own sickness and it takes an 'outsider' to teach her. even i as a nurse, i would not mind if somebody advises me on a treatment management that i am naive of.

@atoz1to10 yes, i have had many clients/patients who are smart, but sadly, not smart in the real sense of the word. they say some things that are not treating a disease, because they believe the practice of their older relatives. an example is- a woman who just delivered her infant: it should be right to advise the parturient to take a bath with lukewarm water when she is discharged, but the elders of their family say otherwise. a parturient should not immediately take a bath but wait for a week before she can bathe herself.

I just hope that my doctor didn't mind when I shared my treatment with her. So you are a nurse as well? Did you meet some one like me, ''being smart''?

You don't have to be sorry for that after all you were only trying to help her. She may be a doctor but that doesn't mean she has to be aware of everything.

Not at all. Doctors don't know everything. There are new and alternative ways of dealing with illnesses and issues that many doctors have no idea about.
