Keeping it cozy

Hubby is off buying a transmission to put in a vehicle. A used one, of course.
The day is chilly but I intend to keep cozy while I work on the future office.
In my oven is a huge pot of baked beans based on the recipe from hubby's grandma. I am also doing laundry, and venting the steamy air into the house. It certainly helps us stay warm.
Later, I will do some other baking, when I can use a hotter oven.
I hear it is snowing in Western Kansas. . . I am happy to live in the Eastern part of the state.
This is a great way to keep it cozy on a chilly and rainy day.

Ugh, I wish the cooler weather would come around my way! I know it's not likely but I can dream. Lol

What we are calling chilly this month would have been considered warm a couple of months ago,it is funny about perspective. I would gladly send you some cold rain.

@Courtlynn I am in Kansas, toward the south east part of the state. @LovingMyBabies is in Jacksonville, Fla. I read that that area will be warmer than usual in May.

It's chilly here in Hamilton, too. I just may close the front door and put on the gas fireplace for awhile.

It seems like a good day for hot beverages, warm blankets, and comfort food, along with a heat source or two.

@BarBaraPrz It has been a little better here. We have actually seen a little sun, but the clouds are gathering again.

The weather channel says we are in a pattern to stay slightly on the cool side through May. The beans were good but sweeter than my taste. I am more the chili beans and cornbread type. We added mustard to our dishes and it helped. I made them just for hubby's memory.

Hubby is doing well. We opted to just replace the transmission, hubby was going to try to fix the one that is in. We have a guy who does auto repair for a second income, at his home shop and he will do the transmission work. He even has a trailer to come pick up the vehicle.

I can't believe parts of the country are still experiencing winter conditions, when all of us here in Florida are sweating our butts off as the temperature approaches the upper 90's this weekend!

I saw a Weather Channel map that says that my part of the country will be "slightly cooler" for May, You will be in zone that is much above normal. I feel for you. Slightly cooler just means our garden will be longer to mature, mostly, and harvest will be later for the wheat farmers.

@moffittjc It is such a matter of perspective. I am really pretty comfy up to 90 but after that I am a GROUCH.

@GardenGerty Here in Florida, we have just come to terms with the fact that every summer will be hotter than normal. That's just the standard for us now! My favorite is when they say a cold front is coming through, or that we can expect a cool down. Translation: instead of it being 98 degrees outside, it will only get up to 97 degrees! That's our big "cool down!" LOL

We shut the main heat off a month ago. I did a lot of cooking. We have a heated mattress pad on the bed.

Mom's Taxi. I have some pinto beans cooking as well as the baked beans. I can freeze them to eat at a later date. It just seemed a good day to make them. I bet you make wonderful soup.

All I got done today was those baked beans, because they cook at a low temperature for seven hours. I will bake a cake that is an Armenian Cake, according to the internet. We are honoring an Armenian student who will be moving back to Armenia in May. I will also use a Vietnamese recipe, because we also have a Vietnamese foreign exchange student at our church, who will go home in May as well.

@GardenGerty How wonderful to spend your time honoring those you care about. It's always important to take the time to honor people in our own special ways.

I did the baked beans. May do some muffins tomorrow. I definitely plan to bake a cake that is called an Armenian Cake. I am taking it to a potluck. We are trying our hand at making dishes from our foreign exchange students' homelands. We are a very small community and we have a student from Armenia, and one from Vietnam.
