Rosemary And Possible Prevention of Cancer

I use rosemary on pork mostly. Once I put twigs of it and lavender on a huge pork tenderloin I was grilling on the barby. It came out so good. It really adds a great flavor. It is also a very hardy plant for those who have trouble keeping it alive. But, as well as being great to use in cooking it is also good to help with blood flow to the brain, reduces plaque buildup in the blood and helps memory formation. It is also a booster for hair growth, reduces inflammation, improves digestion, great fighter to the H1N1 virus and different types of bacteria. Rosemary also has one active compound, recently published in the online journal, PLoS One, as carnosic acid. It has demonstrated activity against prostate cancer cells. So the rosemary extract may have promise in the treatment and even prevention of prostate cancer. So, rosemary is showing itself to be more that just a cooking marvel, hair tonic, tea, tincture or essential oil.

I knew rosemary only as a flower and the name of a girl. Thanks for the information.

I do too. I use a combination called Spike on about everything we cook around here. It is a wonderful combination of all the ones we like. Then we add garlic and pepper of course.

Love to cook with rosemary but I wonder how much you need to consume to get the health benefits

It comes in other forms. You'd have to research it.

I used to use it in my greenery to make wreaths with during the holidays. The combo makes for a nice fragrance in the house.

I think I need some rosemary oil. It sounds like I could use it for memory, and a couple of other things you mentioned. II hadn't thought of using lavender along with rosemary to season pork. I will have to try it.
