Gross fact about eskimos

When Eskimo babies have colds, their mothers suck with their mouths the snot out of their noses. It is so gross why would anyone do this I don't understand at all.

I think I remember reading about this somewhere, too. If I'm not mistaken, the reasoning behind mothers sucking snot from the infant's nostrils is to clear it so it's easier for them to breathe. I could be wrong, tho. :)
