Working weekend for him, a holiday for me.

My husband, (I'll call him Mr Platypus, or Mr P for short), has recently joined a rock band again.
For many years, in the 70's and 80's he was lead guitarist and vocalist in a band, but life happens, and he gave the gigging away to live a relatively normal life.
Now, in his 60's, he has rejoined the music world, this time as a bass guitarist. The band is quite popular around this area, and a couple of weekends ago they had a gig at a motorcycle rally for BSA motorbike owners. (Beautiful machines, I must say).
This gig meant 2 nights away, in a very picturesque cottage in a very picturesque area. I came along, as the 5th wheel. Friday night was a great jam night in the cottage, and Saturday was setting up for the gig, then Saturday night the band played. I went to see the band for an hour or so, and then came back to the cottage and baby-sat the fire, for this town, whilst picturesque is jolly cold, as you can see from the photograph I took on my morning walk.
It was a wonderful weekend.
Mr P is so enjoying playing bass instead of lead. It's a new way to listen to the songs, bass has a whole different feel to lead guitar. He is really relaxed while playing.
They have another gig tomorrow,at a local winery; that will make it 5 band jobs in the last 6 weeks. He's loving the extra money!!
The picture shows gum trees in the fog or mist.

Wow! It must be a great feeling to do things you enjoy .The gigs are an added incentive if you can go away with him.

Yes he is really enjoying it as a second job. I don't usually go to see the band play, when he is playing locally I stay home. I love my time to myself while he is out working, but the weekend away, in the lovely little cottage, was a definite winner for me.

I don't usually watch him play with the band. He plays the guitar a lot at home, and I do enjoy listening to that.

Exactly. I read somewhere, 'do what you love, and the money will follow'. For him, it's his love of playing; the fact that he gets paid is a bonus.

@JadePlatypus It is said "Choose a job you love, and you will never have to work a day in your life."
For me, it is more of "love the job you do" and, at times, hate though I have removed "hate" from my life - siva
