Probably a cat. Dogs are alot more work because of having to train them.

I think cat is quiet and lazy .Dogs are active pets .

@Linda1234 thats why for an older person i think cats are better. Cause dogs you have to take for walks and what not. But not all cats are always lazy. My cat and one of my bfs cats likes to all run around half the days.

My mom loves both dogs and cats. But If your mom like quiet, she will enjoy the company of a cat. BUt if she's active and doesn't mind active lifestyle then get her a medium size or a toy dog.

Smaller lap dogs are great animals you do not have to worry about walking them as much as bigger dogs just letting them out to use the bathroom.

Dogs have more needs and require more attention. Cats let you have more freedom and flexibility in your daily life than dogs do.
