How to earn online as a vendor

I have always wonder how do vendors or internet marketers attract customers and generate leads or sales. how exactly is it done?

well i guess it may be a bit easier when it is not online, since you can give free taste or samples in the streets - it may be hard to earn the capital back though.. but if your product is yummy or the quality is good, people will come back

I think the key is to have a good website with good content updated regularly and using SEO to rank high on search engines. It also helps to be selling or advising on something there is a demand for.

Well, I think the same basic principles apply when you are doing marketing outside of the internet.

What I heared is that you need to have heavy traffic of people going or viewing your website so as to attract potential customers or buyers.
