I believe we all have read a book or a simple story at some stage in our lives that affected us at some level. A book that inspired you to take up writing or one that made you examine who you are. My personal favorites are those by Edgar Allan Poe and Leo Tolstoy. "The Gold Bug", "The Tell Tale Heart", "The Pit and The Pendulum", "The Black Cat"... I could go on and on. And what can I say about Tolstoy's work. Stories like "Ivan the Fool", "Prisoner of the Caucasus", "Work Death And Sickness" and many more from many other writers. So, what are yours. It could be a full length novel or a four page story. Which one hit you the hardest?

Recently I read the debut novel of Lucy Beresford and I was deeply moved. Her novel, titled 'Invisible Threads' talks about spectacularly enough offering a documentation on all the mishappenings and ill-happenings taking place excessively in India and in the other parts of the world. the subject of the novel, you might have guessed, the maltreatment of women, is as old as the first sin committed by man but the novel is yet new. It talks about activities or cruel deeds that are taking place on a regular basis but still most of us eith don't know or choose not to know. The part that hit me is it's darkness. It's a dark work representing our dark generation, the dark people and it is still so powerful that it electrifies you, energize you and forces you to be the name of change - to be something more than just you. Keep reading, keep sharing, best regards, Medha.
