Religion in Politics?

Since the beginning, religion has played a very dominant role in the politics of nations. Even today it plays a role in giving shape to the laws that govern our societies. In modern times, every country seems to have people following multiple faiths, especially democracies. In that case is it wise or prudent to allow religion in politics at the cost of undermining the beliefs of the minorities?
Whats your take on this?

Politicians are also part of sect. But let not church touch government works. They can speak up but no touching

As for me there must be a boundary or dividing line between religion and government and one institution must not encroach upon the other.

We have a Separation of Church and State in America for a reason. Religion and politics should NEVER be mixed...period. Our country is a true melting pot of races and religions which is what makes our country great. Everyone is entitled to their own beliefs, to worship as they please and to practice their particular religion as they please as long as it isn't hurting others but they're not entitled to force their beliefs on others.

Where is it even stated that we have a separation of Church and state..I would like to read those words in one of our documents some where....
Where is it written that religion and politics should not be mixed...are you saying that a polition should have to give up their beliefs because they are in politics....That is stupid because peoples beliefs are what make them the people that they are...
Who gets to deside what is right and what is wrong with each religion...Who desides what they get to practice..Because some religions think murder is Ok.Who gets to deside what is forcing a certain religious belief on someone...Who gets to say what is right and what is wrong....
Is it right to force cretin groups to turn their backs on their religion because another group says it is wrong.....
Why should people that do not wish to conform to the values and ways of this country be allowed to come here....

@anniepa So that is how you are...Make fun of someone because of spelling...Like you never make a mistake spelling something like above when you spelled beliefs (reliefs)....You try to make yourself better, but you are not....we all make mistakes....we are all human...So i guess Donald would be so proud of you too......
...Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof;
So basically the case you mention Everson v. Board of Education..The supreme court made the decision to take funds away from people that made the choice to go to private schools...No way is funding transportation to a private school establishing a religion...but they did rule against the free exercise of it....going against the constitution....
What do you consider forcing beliefs on someone else...What you say is forcing, i may not consider it forcing....So who is right....Who gets to make that decision.....If everyone makes their own decision on what is right and what is wrong their would be no right answer. or wrong answer....
The supreme court gives opinions it does not make laws....and it does not mean that it is the right decision, or constitutional . it is just the opinion of 9 different people that are human and can make mistakes just like the rest of us....Lets take abortion, and leave religion out of it....We have laws against murder, bet they said it is legal for a women to make the decision to murder her child....What gives them the right to decide to legalize murder...
How can anyone decide or take away the right of a baker that does not want to bake a cake for someone that goes against their religious beliefs..That is prohibiting the free exercise thereof.....So the courts went against their free exercise......because that person could have gone else where to get a cake, but they wanted to force the baker to go against his beliefs.....
Not all science is the right answer..The data can add up differently to different scientists all most of it is is just opinions of different humans that can and do make mistakes... ..things are Best if left up to God....

@dlr297 I'm going to admit I may have gone too far when I commented about your habit of poor spelling and I'm also going to admit to the occasional typo. I apologize if I offended you but I'm just one of those people who still believe in proper spelling and grammar, I guess that's my biggest problem with the age of texting and Twitter. Obviously I'm not perfect and I'm happy to admit it but I'll continue trying to improve and learn until the day I die.
The LAST thing I'd EVER want would be for Trump to be "proud" of me!
We're never going to agree on the mixing of politics and religion but I sure hope enough people agree with me to keep us from a theocracy. You believe discrimination and persecution is acceptable if someone can claim it's based on religious beliefs. That's what the KKK does... I'll bet you also agree with that horrible Arizona law saying a woman must get the permission of the father before having an abortion, EVEN IF THAT FATHER IS A RAPIST".
My very worst fear is that someone like you, someone who believes "things are best if left up to God", will get into power. I wonder how you'd feel if that happened and if the person in charge was against certain medical treatments, such as blood transfusions, for "religious reasons" and it caused you to lose someone you loved.
