Do you get a good night's sleep?

I wish I could say yes to that question, but I can say that I don't. Most nights I wake up either having to let the dogs out or end up thinking about something, and just an't go back to sleep.
It gets really frustrating, as I end up just laying there, and the time just keeps going and eventually, I get up, and not all that refreshed either.
I go to bed early enough to, where I like to watch some Netflix before I sleep, but what happens is, I fall asleep during an episode or two, and when I wake up, I realize I had slept through it all.
I will turn my ipad off and roll over, thinking I will get some sleep, since I had been asleep beforehand, but nope, I just lie there.
It is so frustrating, when I fall asleep when I don't want to, and and when I need to, I don't. Sure wish there were a happy medium, but oh well, I have been dealing with it for a long time.
The worst pat about it, is I fall asleep in the daytime, when I should be awake. I guess I am going to have to stop watching Netflix and hope I fall alseep on my own.

Maybe you need to find something else to do at bedtime. Do you enjoy reading? Do have the free Amazon Kindle? You can get plenty of free ebooks to read. Or, if you have a tv with a timer. When you know you are getting tired put the timer on and it will switch off on its own and you'll be asleep.

I do like to read, but I don't have the kindle fire, just an ipad, whih is what i use to watch Netflix on. I don't have a tv in my bedroom, only in the living room, so that would't work.I am out of options except to just try to stay awake, and hope tht I an fall asleep when I need to.

i sometimes nod when i watch TV in the afternoon, like today, but i am listening to the TV. haha! i also tend to take light sleep after 9PM while watching TV, but when i hit the bed at 11PM, i sleep so soundly like the cooking oil in a freezing environment.

I will try to keep my hands occupied during the day, so I dodn't get so sleepy, and yet it still happens, but not all the time. I am hoping that my sleeping patterns change one iof these times, and I get a full nights sleep withiut having to get up once.

@ridingbet I agree there, as i do try to stay awake during the day, as muh as I can. I end up dozing off, more than I want to, but I think they are just cat naps, as I don't sleep all that long, which is a good thing, as I don't want to sleep for a long time in the daylight hours.

@allknowing I don't have much of a lifestyle, as I live alone, and an come and go as I please. I am going to do everything I can, to stay awake during the day, so I can sleep at night. I hope that it helps, as it should.

@LadyDuck I have had that too, where rain would wake me up, and I would just lie there listeing to it, and once it stopped, i would try to go bak to sleep. I just wish that once I got to sleep, I would stay there, but alas, I wake up for one thing or another. I know that my sleep patterns are all out of whacck, so hopefully, things will change one of these nights.

@Courtlynn I guess my eyes get weary at the wrong time of the day, and I fall asleep on a whim. It really sucks too, as I would raher sleep at night, but I just can't seem to fall asleep when i want to, and stay asleep one i get there.

Congratulations. That is certainly understandable as you have a newborn, and they just don't sleep at night as you have to get up and fee them. I have been there and done that myself. Hopefully, things will get better and the baby will sleep more, and as it gets older, it will.

@LicMaria Taking care of a newborn is tiring too, and I applaud any mother that does that, as it is very hard work, but something that we have to do as mothers. I love my kids so much, and now that they are grown and have kids of their own, they know what it is like to bring children into the world as well. I have six grandchildren, but only see two of them, as the other four live in other states.,

I sleep pretty well most nights, but then again I usually take something like an aspirina and a Tylenol PM when I go to bed, if I didn't I am pretty sure I wouldn't either!

I don't use sleep aids, as I fall asleep pretty quickly. It is staying asleep that I have a problem with. I wake up trying to get comfortabe to go back to sleep, and all I do is toss and turn, which is very frustrating. I sleep best when I don't have to get up to let the dogs out or go to the bathroom. Nights like those are few and far between.

It can definitely be frustrating when you wake up and just can't fall back asleep. I've had nights like that, unfortunately, and it's not fun. Thankfully, some nights I am able to sleep well, but others, it's the complete opposite.

I wish most days i could take a nap but sine working a 7:30-4 day job i cant nap but would love to. I dont sleep well at night at this moment because i have a bad cough and cant seem to not wake u coughing in the middle of the night.
Some days i sleep in and some days i dont. During the week i get up around 6:30 and leave the house at 7:15 and then on the weekends i usually sleep till about 7:30 depending on what i did the night before of course.
Even when i dont have a cough i still wake up in the middle of the night for no apparent reason at all.

@lologirl2021 It appears that the days are going mjuch faster than they used to, so it is really hard to get things done in a timely manner, when the time just whizzes by. I do the best I can though, and that is all I can do

Maybe I should try to sleepa little longer in the morning, and stop gettting up so early. that might help, but I am used to getting up very early to start my day. The days go fast enough as it is, so that is why I get up realy early, so I can get my day started soon enough.

Well, I still fall asleep even with the ipad on, as it happens while watching episodes on Netflix. I do have a case on it, so when I am ready to go to sleep, I just close the case up so it is dark, as I don't have it leit up al night, and neither is my iphone. I just happen to fall asleep way to easily when I am watching something, than if I didn't. It is strange I know, but it does happen.

This is my problem too. I go to bed and I don't feel sleepy. I wait hours and hours for sleep to come but it does not come. Last night I read kindle ebooks to relax myself and make myself sleepy and my eyes get tired and I fell asleep. Good for you you can catch up in your sleep in the morning, me I can't sleep in the morning

I am such an early riser, so I like to go to bed early, but then i can't get to sleep unless i watch something, which always puts me to sleep. It is staying aseep, once I fall to sleep, that is the worst Last night was a better night for me though, as I only got up once to let my one dog out, and i went right back to sleep, until a little before 5 am this morning. I didn't get up them as I don't get up that early, and I did fall back to sleep for a short time, and now I feel refreshed, but later in the day, will tell the story.

I get very few good nights where I sleep all night, They seem so few and in between, that when I do get one, I am so glad of it. The good ights are the ones that I get when I don't have to get up and go to the bathroom, or not having to let the dog's out.

@amadeo If i didn't have to go to the bathroom, ot let the dogs out in the middle of the night, then I more than likely would sleep better. I let them out early enough, but the smallest one seems to want to get up allmost every night to drink water, but I tell her she needs to go potty first, She has slept all night only a few times, and I just wish she would start doing it every night.

I had insomnia for years. My brain got into the habit of sleeping all day and being awake all night. It was a horrible way to live. So I began shutting down the computer earlier and earlier. I asked my doctor for something to help me sleep that would not make me wake up groggy and he gave me a very small dosage of anxiety medication - to relax me. By 10pm, I shut down the computer, go into my bedroom with a book, take my sleeping pill and read until I fall asleep. I am now able to sleep all night with no trouble and be awake all day. It took a while to get here but I'm thrilled I made the decision to do it.

@CRK109 Yea me too. Once i get to sleep, I don't want to have to get up for anything, wheither it is going to the bathroom or letting one or both dogs out. I do get a few of those, but not many, and when I do get them, I take advantage of them and sleep through the night, and before I know it, it is time to get up again.

I have neer had to take any sleeping pills, since I falkl asleep so easily when I am watching tv or watching Netfix. I am thankful, that i have never had to take sleeping pills, but on the other hand, I wish that once I shut down Netflix, after falling asleep, go back to sleep as easily as I did before I started watching Netflix.

@rosekiss I think you should avoid sleeping during daytime. I know you are not sleeping deliberately. If you listen to relaxing music like @responsiveme suggested, you will have a nice sleep.

I do try to keep myself awake during the day, as much as possible, so that I am tired at night and will sleep when I need to. I know I will get a good night's sleep again, but in the meantime I have to deal with the situration the best that I can. I do appreicate al the advice though, as I need all the advice I can get to be able to sleep at night and not in the daytime.

I think it is that way with a lot of people, as somethingg comes into our minds that we just can't stop worrying about. I know it does me, and when I start thinking about those things, I find it had to get back to sleep. I do try to keep my mind clear when I go to bed, but it seems that things end up being on my mind more than they should. I am hoping that I get a good night/s sleep one of these nights.

Sometimes yes and sometimes no for me the problem is i sleep in my chair because my mattress is a coil type when i sleep on it it causes back and side pains so i started sleeping in my chair and i have had only very little pain once in a while, However the one thing that keeps me up when sleeping in my chair is i sometimes get restless leg syndrome, The reason i have not got a new foam or memory foam or gel mattress is it does not fit in my budget.

I can understand that one as mattresses are very expensivel. I can't aford those either. My mattress isn't the most omfortable in the world, but I do sleep on it when I don't wake up that is. My problem is trying to get a good position, where I won't wake up during the night, as I have a tendency to toss and turn, and that is very frustrating, to say the least.
