What is one big life lesson you would like to pass on to others?

In our lives, whether long or short, we always learn lessons. Mostly, I've found, we learn lessons from the tragedies that happen to us along the way. We learn how to be better people, better in relationships, better at work, etc. We learn what things work for us and which things we should avoid all together.
If I could pass only one thing on to someone else, it would be to learn how to let go of a problem. For me, I've always tried to hold on and control the situation. The harder I hold on, the worse things get, because, of course, I am never truly in control of anything. Once I learned how to let go, problems have gotten solved one way or another, and life goes on. I'm not saying there's always a happy ending, because there isn't. But things just seem to happen in a better way if we're not white-knuckled along with everything else.
What lesson would you want to pass along to others?
Claudia

This is my lesson: Is anyone going to care about this in five years?
When you are upset, insulted, angry, miffed you just ask yourself that question. 99.9% of the time, if you're honest with yourself, the answer is no. No one will care that that jerk cut you off, that the restaurant got your order wrong or the server was rude. No one will care that you had to make an extra trip to return the clothing that you didn't try on because you didn't have time.
So think about it before you waste time getting mad.

Don't let worry ruin your life... things pass and next year you won't even think about what you were worried about!

I like your lesson Claudia and I agree sometimes there is just some things we cannot do a dang thing about. That would be what I also would tell people.
And the other one would be to pick your life partner very carefully it can make or break your life.

Start saving money as early in life as possible. You can't depend on the government or anyone else to support you. Work hard and save money.

thats a great thing you pass on to others friend. myself i would pass on to let your family and freinds always know how much you love them, especially the children, but do not let them disrespect you either. because disrespect leads to not caring

Telling loved ones how you feel is always a good thing. I've been blessed in my life because I've lost a lot of people, but before they left this world, they knew exactly how much I loved them. And you're right about the disrespect. When anyone disrespects us, oh, how that hurts.

Yes, I agree with you. Life has a way of unraveling itself somehow. That's great, Judy, thanks!

My advice is don't hang around with the wrong crowd, as the Bible says "bad company corrupts good morals".

That's a lesson my mother actually taught me when I got my first job. I wish I knew what happened to the money I thought I was saving!

I would advise people to learn to use the word NO. I must admit that I used to be frantically running all over the place trying to please people. It was hard at first when I said no and quite shocking to me let alone some people but at times you just have to!

Every pay check you get, take out $20 and hide it in an empty coffee can in your cabinet. You'd be surprised over the years how quickly it adds up @CRK109 . I wish I would have done it.

That's a good lesson. One of the lesson I'm learning now in my life is that we should fight negative thoughts right away. We should also fill our minds with lots of positive thoughts and affirmations and that will make our life more positive

I think this is a good lesson you've learnt. I guess maybe mine is, if things just won't go the way you want, back off and wait a while. Sometimes it will happen later without any effort on your part.

The lesson that my mom taught me and it hit home. Never lie, it's just to complicated to remember what you lied about. The truth is just that the truth and it's always inside your head.
