How many of you have a dream of becoming a successful writer some day?

I have written short stories, but, did not make those into a book. There is one I wrote on my cat and a talking door and made it into a book. It was very hard, because I wanted to make it really good and did not sell many. I still have I think 1 or two left.
I went to someone to learn how to make it into a book where the characters talk. I did not know that stuff. It was hard and very expensive. I decided my writing days are over.

I did not have that dream even though I have always been keen on literature ever since I have a conscious mind. It's always been there but I tried to ignore it because my family never encouraged me to follow my dream or anything but focus on making money instead. Lately I find myself suffer too much at a 9-6 job, the desire I bury for so long starting to surface. The thing is I read a lot but I rarely write. Many times I beat myself up thinking I don't have what it takes to be a writer. I know it's not a good mindset to begin with. So I'm here on mylot again today to make baby steps or at least to comfort myself. Writing soothes me.

I know about families not encouraging one. I also had a family like that. I moved to Israel and there are opportunities out there and here one can reinvent themselves. I thought I found what I liked, but, now, I am not so sure so am looking for something to do in addition to the other. Keep going and you will make it and do not let anyone tell you you cannot do something. I hated working for others do. I feel that even if you work for yourself you still have bosses, especially if you go to a place and sell. There is always someone to tell you what to do in life. Alamanda, you can write to me and I will give you encouragement. I see where I sell all the people with families that are so proud of their kids and I look back at my life and I feel very sad because I only have one person in my life and that was my grandfather for 14 years that accepted me and the others made me feel like I was nothing. Coming to live in Israel with having Independence and being able to survive without a family here has helped me. This was before my animals because when I had my animals they became my family. Alamanda, I understand so write to me if you feel low or write in a journal how you feel too.

@Hannihar Thank you a lot for your encouragement. Sometimes I do think that I need to move far away from my family to free my mind from all the pressure. And I'm sorry for the late reply, I wanted to write a lot but then this is all I can express right now. Just wanna let you know I deeply appreciate your offer, definitely will write more.

That is ok and write whenever you want. There is no time limit on when you answer a post. I want you to feel comfortable and write when you feel like it. You are so welcome for your encouragement. There are families that care and encourage their kids and families that do not. You and I both got the ones that do not.

@Hannihar I wanted to publish books at a very young age and I would still like to but putting that idea on hold for awhile. Plus, don't really have the motivation at the moment to try right now.
I'm sorry your book didn't sell many but I tell you what. I'm so proud of you for trying! You still did something that you wanted to do. I know you wanted to sell more but you still accomplished something. And that is something I admire you for!

@Hannihar That is a good idea. I have thought about it. Just no motivation at the moment to even do that. Which is annoying. I've lost a lot of motivation for a lot of things that I love.

Thanks but you have to do what is best for you. Do not push yourself. Just let it happen when it will happen.

Thanks so much Dani. I have a suggestion for you. Maybe just write a short story about something you know and like and see how it goes. What do you think of that?
