I know it's not everyone's thing. And, I know there's plenty of you who will feel sorry for the frog. But, I thought it was a fantastic thing to watch today. This is mostly because I was very impressed by how that snake did not give up despite the frog being more than a mouthful (I'm sure it will fill it up for a while) and it was so focused on its prey, it completely ignored me standing a couple feet away.
I didn't get to see it actually finish eating the frog because it dragged it into the grass. But, by then, it was pretty obvious the snake won that fight.

The snakes we have around here are harmless. None of them are poisonous and most will slither away from you before you even realize they are there.

That is a fantastic shot. It is nature in the raw. That's how a snake survives.

That poor toad, it hopped the wrong path today!
I watched a toad get eaten by a snake before. It was a long process, but it was fun to watch. Last year I saw a water snake catch a fish and take it away to be eaten. People get creeped out when I tell them I swim in the same water as those snakes. They won't bother with me when they aren't aggressive and only want to do what they do.
Sometimes I look at people who own huge constrictor snakes and laugh, saying they are way too big to be eaten... they obviously aren't aware of the things a snake can eat!
