Do you get distracted easily?

I must admit that I certainly do. I will be doing one thing, get distracted by one thing or another, and forget what I was doing before I got distracted. My mind has a tendency t wander at times too, so I end up not getting done what I was doing, and then I will start doing something else, all the while, not realizing I had something else to do, and didn't get done what I was doing before I got distracted. When i am in here, I try to keep from being distracted, but there again, it will happen, and I end up reading what I posted, so I don't repeat myself. I guess you coud say, my age might bea factor too, although, it more than likely happens to all of us at one time or another. My biggest distraction is the fact I have two dogs, and when I have to stop doing to take care of them. It happens more times than not, but that is okay, as I have been able to deal with the distractions fot the most part. How do you handel distractions, do you get frustrated and throw in the towel, or do you deal with them. It would be really interesteing to see how others deal with their distractions.

I get distracted easily, no matter what I do, I look around, I look outside the window, I start doing other things before I have finished what I am doing. I think it's my nature, you cannot fight your nature.

I do the very same thing, as my mind never seems to stay on what I am doing. It is always wandering, and it is very frustrating, that is for sure. I deal with it nonthe less.

@LadyDuck I really can't either, as I start thinking about other things instead of what i am doing. I have been deaaling with it though, even though it can be somewhat frustrating.

@rosekiss I cannot stay focused to one thing only for a long time. But I can live with this problem.

I am a multi tasker - have been that way for quite a while and so cannot say I get distracted.

@allknowing That could be. I watch tv while posting in here, and sometimes I get distracted then too, as I will have to read what i posted so I don't type the same thing again. Most of the time though, i don't let the background noise even bother me.

Oh absolutely! I get distracted easily. It's not always funny. It's always been a bit of a problem. I am trying to work on it. But I guess I just get distracted.

@rosekiss I know the feeling. It's annoying sometimes and funny at other times. Like you I do get things done, but it just might take a little longer.

I am certainly glad to know that i am not the only one that gets distracted. It can be annoying at times, and funny at other times, at least for me it is anyway. I will eentually et done what needs to be done though, and I am the only one that lives in my home, so I would be doing them just for me anyway.

@dodo19 Same here, and I don't have anyone else I have to have them done for, so I just do them when I can, as they eventually get done, and that is all that matters.

I'm always sidetracked from whatever I start to do and I honestly think it's normal. It doesn't bother me because eventually I'll finish at least one of the things I started before I got distracted ..... well, eventually anyway

Once I start something, I like to finish it right away, but when I get distracted, it just doesn't happen. I don't like getting distracted, but it happens to all of us at one time or another, and it is how we handle them that is the main thing.. I do get things done too, eventually, but it might be days before i get to them.

@rebelann Wow, that is some distracton alright. If you aren't in a hurry to get them done, then just doing them in bits and pieces will eventually get them done, but just take a little longer. I am never in a hury to get mine done either, so I just take my time, and then I get distracted, and don't go back to it.

I sometimes start doing one thing and end up doing another. Sometimes, it is also an act of procrastination!

Yea, that is pretty much the way it is for me too. I do end up procrastinating more thn I should, but I don have anyone here to tell me I have to do everything right away.

@valmnz yea, I know the what if scenari. what if I had done this, and what if I had done that. Believe me, I have asked myself that many times. Either I do something silly, or I don't get done what I need to do, but it will get done, eventully.

@shebish that would be true too. I do laugh at myself sometimes, as I do silly things, and then wonder why I did them.

Sometimes my distractions send me into a state of inertia. I can so sympathize with this post.

That is the same with me too. I decided that when I think about doing something, I better do it right away, or I will sure as shooting not get it done, as something else will come up. and then I forget all about what I was doing and do something else.

I hate to admit it, but I'm afraid I'm like that, too. My mind is always racing and I love learning new things, so I think sometimes it goes faster than I can keep up with it. Then when I remember what I'd been doing, it's like "Uh, how did I get away from that?!"

My rain seems to go faster than I do. I try to keep up with it, but alas, no such luck. I often wonder why I do what I do.

Usually not. My focus is pretty great.

I am glad to hear that. I am going to have to not let my mind wander, and do what I need to do and get it done. Case in point, I got distracted the other day, and ended up forgetting to let out the dishwater when I got done. I didn't remember it until it got to be cold water.

You know, you are right, as I have never done that as I figured I would get them done, but life takes us in anoher direction sometiems and we get distracted. I am definitely going to have to write them down, that way I know they will get done. Thank you for the advice.

I get put out when there are distractions. Maybe you are trying to do too much. I have gotten into the habit over the years to wait until the kids are all asleep and the night is quiet before I try to concentrate on anything.

I only get distracted if I have lots of thoughts in my mind.
