In the Old Testament there are specific laws about men wearing women's clothes and women wearing men's clothes. I suspect that down through the ages those adhering to certain divisions between the genders decided on certain "peculiarities" that would be make it clear which gender was to wear which piece of clothing.
Here's my question. Why do women have to ride side saddle? What genius thought that up?
Lady Mary of Downton Abbey strikes a fine figure, riding side-saddle to the hunt. But why did ladies ride side-saddle?
