my Mother's Day

Yesterday my youngest daughter woke up around 7am, got herself dressed in a new dress, woke her stepfather, and the two of them went to the grocery store to pick up things for breakfast. When I got up later and went into the kitchen, I was greeted with fresh fruit (pictured), salt bagels (my favorite!), cream cheese, lox, fresh coffee, and a bouquet of fresh flowers on the table.
Lunch was picked up at a local BBQ place, so I didn't have to worry about making anything or even dealing with a busy restaurant with young children. It was truly a relaxing day off!

Dinner was leftovers from lunch and breakfast... I didn't have to cook still! :D

Lox is a type of cured salmon. This kind was Nova lox, which means that it was brine cured and then lightly cold smoked.

@spiderdust I prepared fettuccine with shrimps and asparagus, followed by chicken cordon bleu with zucchini and spinach. Cheesecake as dessert.

@LadyDuck That sounds delicious. I love chicken cordon bleu, but don't prepare it very often.

glad you had a relaxing day! i've learned i mostly don't like to go out to eat on mothers day because it is usually not relaxing, but the kids are getting older where that may not be the case anymore.... bbq sounds good!
