As I typed my subject line, I felt like this is my "Dances With Wolves". lol It sure would be a nice name to have, anyway.
As I was sitting here earlier, finishing up a little dinner and trying to decide what to do next, a knock came on my door. I couldn't imagine who it was, so I went to the door and it was a friend of the girls down the hall. She said that one of the girls told her about my cat, and she came to give her condolences.
We sat at my table for quite a while talking. Thanks to her, I had a vet to see Ruby. When I first realized Ruby was sick, I began asking around for a good vet, and the one I saw was recommended by this woman. So I explained what had transpired and she felt so bad. She loves cats, too, and not long ago lost her own beloved feline. But then we talked about other things. She fell in love with my apartment and the views out the windows. She said the girls down the hall have a view of the back of the parking lot. Not fun.
And then a letter arrived in the mail from a FB friend. We originally "met" not long after my husband passed away. I don't remember how we became FB friends, but when she heard about Britt, she asked if she could make a prayer shawl for me. And since I used to make those for other people, I was touched and agreed. And we've become very close since then. But her health has been deteriorating and she can't always use her computer because of pain, so I asked if I could begin writing letters to her and she was thrilled. In this letter, she gave me the full scope of her health problems and it breaks my heart. Doctors don't seem to know what's going on with her body, but there are a lot of problems. So while it's not as fast as chatting online, I'm so grateful we can talk in this way. I'll be spending a good part of tomorrow writing my letter back to her.
Visiting with friends takes so many different forms and they are all wonderful. Just being able to keep in touch with those we care about is what's important. For me, today has been a very strange, but awfully nice day. And the sun just came out, too. Which seems to be something of a miracle!
I hope the sun is shining on you, too!

That's so great! I'm glad you had those visits. They are precious moments sent from God at just the right time. I'm sorry for your FB friend and her physical problems. I will add her to my prayers.
The sun isn't shining here, but the Son is always shining.

Yes, please do add her. Her name is Linda. She's such a sweet woman and I pray all the time for some peace for her. I received another letter from another friend today. I know that God is sending people my way while I'm grieving, and it's all helping so much. At least I've calmed down until I get the call that her ashes are ready for me to pick up.
And yes, the Son is always shining! That really makes me smile!

We have had a ton of sun. And here you are with people who do care about you. I know when you are accustomed to being alone a lot, have visits can feel very strange.

Yes, it's strange but such a nice strange. Even one little visit gets me through so many solo days.
