I was wondering if most people go on holiday in North America in May and June?
Where is the best place that you would go and for how long?
After a cold winter the thought of swimming in the Caribbean waters must be very enticing! We met a couple from Boston on a cruise and they mentioned that they often did to get away from the cold weather by heading south.

Southern states are generally warm then, but storms can be threatening. Southern California has beautiful springs usually. A friend just returned from Mexico (west coast) and loved it.

@dianadee It is very beautiful and the southern part is extremely crowded but with great beaches and pretty warm ocean water. It is best to avoid driving as much as possible. Northern California is beautiful too. The Oregon (where I live) coast is the most beautiful of all I think and very few people are around compared to Calif.

I housesat for a couple several years ago when they went to Arizona for the winter. Then I housesat for their friends while they went to Alaska for the summer. Both couples were retired and had lots of money.
There are a lot of places to visit in the U.S.

@dianadee I didn't get any money for it but I got to stay in the houses for free with all the bills (garbage, electricity, telephone etc.) paid. Saved a lot of money since the only things I had to pay for was food and gas, insurance and upkeep for my car.

@RichardMeister That is a saving in itself. Rental prices have increased too.

People in our area go all year round Some like to head to the mountains when they are covered in snow, while others will wait for warm weather to go to the beach

Oh yes, the "snowbirds" travel south in the winter. But masses of people in the USA go on "destination" vacations. Theme parks do a booming business in the summer: Disney parks, Knotts Berry Farm, Dollywood, etc.
Personally I'd like to travel to Europe, but in the spring or fall.

You are so spoilt for choice. Love the thought of visiting a theme park too! A kids dream place.

Traditionally, most Americans go on vacation from June to Labor Day as that's when kids are out of school.
