Plane plane plane. Has nobody ridden in a helicopter before? I have been a helicopter mechanic for almost 20 years now, and I would much rather fly in a helicopter than a small plane. The average person thinks that if your engine quits in a helicopter, you fall out of the sky. Not true. Even without engine power, your rotor still turns just from the air passing through the "disc". Have you ever seen those seeds from a maple tree when they fall? Same idea, except the outer few feet of the rotors gives lift still, it's called "autorotation". When this happens, you have so many more options for a landing spot than if you are in a plane. Planes need a much longer area to land, a helicopter only needs a small spot. The helicopter I have worked on for most of my career is very stable and smooth to ride in also, but it is quite large, carrying 25 passengers. I admit that the smaller helicopters can be twitchy, but so can light airplanes. Anyway, hope that sheds some light on the subject for everybody!
