Marsha's Log: Calm Before the Storm?

They say we are in for some very severe weather starting about 4 pm. It's been on the TV over and over.....the warning, the info on how to prepare.....the warning to be prepared for where you will go and what you will take with you. I was babysitting out of town, but decided to pack the kids up and come to my house. I at least have a basement over going across the street to the underground storm shelter in the RV park. They live in a mobile home. Heather has a bug out bag all packed with extra clothes, blankets, towels, snacks, flashlight and more. She always has that prepared. It's very calm outside, the wind has been barely blowing at all. The sky is gray. They are saying tornadoes, winds up to 75 miles per hour, and hail up to the size of baseballs. It's almost 3 pm here, so pretty much we sit and wait. Otherwise, I am my busy self trying to do way more things than there is time in a day for.

I'd reorganize or you are going to make yourself sick. I hope not.

I could have gone to bed almost an hour ago if I wasn't home and waiting for hubby to get up for work!

@celticeagle that sure is the truth....I feel like I am at my breaking point right now trying to keep up with these kids. It's not like then when I watch them at their house.

I hope the weather doesn't turn out as bad as predicted for you. Here in New Zealand we're expecting a cold polar blast up from the Antarctic.

cold is a very bad word....I just stepped outside a bit ago and thought it was way too cold out there for me......I get cold very easily.

The storm broke here between three thirty and four. I went through a cloudburst. Bob had hail. The spring music concert at the middle school got completely cancelled, although Traci had already told Bob we should stay at home and be safe. So I am lounging in my nighties, hubs is taking a nap.

@marsha32 I agree, that would be much more comfortable and reassuring to me as well. Glad all were safe.

Steve got home from work just as it started here. He said going past Inman it was pouring down. I just brought the kids here just in case because I wanted to go to my own basement over the shelter at the RV park if it came to that.

@marsha32 I guess you will be occupied with inside activities. It is supposed to rain here Sunday evening and on Monday, I will now go and do some grocery shopping.

I hope you are okay. I have a few friends in Kansas who mentioned about tornado warnings and packing up for shelter. I haven't heard form them this morning, I should check and make sure they are okay too.

I'm not sure what the damage is around the state either as I've been letting the kids watch Nickalodeon for Kids over the news station.

@Carmelanirel2 Just when the grandkids daddy was coming in town to pick them up the tornado sirens went off yesterday. It was crazy as we watched the news. They weren't really touching down but there were lots of them coming down then going back up. He did make it here and the worst was over but they were heading their way.

@marsha32 I'm trying to not be too concerned, but neither one has posted today. One is a teacher, so she doesn't post often during the day, but the other one posts more often and there are many people commenting on her post and tagging her, so if she was online, she would know many people are asking about her.

@LadyDuck Thankfully the hail was just pea sized here yesterday. It's still cloudy out but they are saying no rain today and tomorrow is supposed to be Sunday. Then they say the storms are back Monday.

@marsha32 We had a hail storm yesterday, not big stones, no big damages.

Those storms and winds can be terrifying! We have a bug out bag too, just in case. Always hoping for the best @marsha32

I think the bulk of it by passed our town. We did get hail but it was small.

Somewhat selfish on my own part as I didn't want to haul it over to the RV park for the storm shelter if it came to that.

I pray you don't get hit with a tornado. I like thunderstorms but not when they produce tornados.

Last year or so we were able to walk to the corner and get a good picture of a tornado. I don't think there were any close to us at all this time.

All considering, I wish I had stayed at my daughters since we didn't have tornadoes.....much less chaotic there.....and everyone here in town knows I'm out of town and unavailable for all of the running.
