"The Eagles Are Finished." Oops, Bank Account Dipped Under $250 Million

Over on Persona Paper I had a series of tirades against Don Henley. I love the man's voice, and the Eagles were my favorite band in the 70s. But dang that guy can sure stick his foot in his mouth so much I'm wondering if he has to gargle with NP-27!
Last year, after the death of Eagles co-founder and "quarterback" (Henley's definition) Glenn Frey, Henley said that, following the Eagles' tribute to Frey on the 2016 Grammy Awards, the Eagles were "finished." He even commented how appropriate it was to have their last song be their first -- "Take It Easy."
Well, apparently Henley's cash flow has dipped under the $250 million mark (his estimated worth is about that much). This summer, guess who's touring? Yep, the Eagles.
And who is replacing Glenn Frey? His longtime friend (and the man with whom Frey made his first recording in L.A.) John David Souther? "Take It Easy" co-writer Jackson Browne?
Nope. It'll be Frey's son, Deacon, handling his father's duties in the band.
"The father is the master and the son is the apprentice," Henley told a Dallas radio station in announcing Deacon Frey's addition to the band.
Tickets for the "Classic East" and "Classic West" shows will be as high as $3,400 per ticket. Joe Walsh, Eagles guitarist, said that the Eagles will play more shows after these two superstar festival dates.
Here's a video citing Henley's "final word" on the end of the Eagles less than three months before the "Classic" shows were announced:
Don Henley says the Eagles are done. They Will Not Reunite With Glenn Frey's Son The singer/drummer has the final word on the band and he says they are not g...

What money grubbers. Pay that much money for an incomplete band. Same goes for AC/DC. Just think how much money Led Zep passed up on by not touring minus one founder.

You're not just getting that incomplete band, you also get an incomplete Fleetwood Mac, an incomplete Journey, and an incomplete Earth, Wind, and Fire.

@FourWalls - To be fair to EWF, Maurice White stopped touring years ago. Health reasons. As long as Phillip Bailey, Verdine White, and that horn section are still around, I'd still go see them.

@JohnRoberts -- and to think that John Paul Jones is playing mandolin with Dave Rawlings, earning less in a year than he would in ten seconds of a Zep reunion, and Plant is not exactly selling out football arenas with Band of Joy. Yeah, I appreciate that they aren't making like Steve Miller and taking the money and running. David Byrne also said no to a Talking Heads reunion, even though I'd slap another mortgage on the house for a ticket to that. But some people do have integrity, even in rock and roll.

I saw this yesterday. I had the same thought. Aren't they done? I guess they aren't.

@teamfreak16 -- not a one. Bo Bice was the lead singer. Funny thing: when Sedaka was introducing his band he pointed out his bass player WAS an original BS&T member. So Sedaka was more BS&T than BS&T was!!

@FourWalls - No David Clayton Thomas? Great band, but I'd rather not see them without him.

I like the Eagles. Sometimes you just have to ignore the words that come out of the mouths of these artists and just enjoy the music.

I wonder how many people will actually cough up that kind of money for a ticket... I'm sure that there will be some but sadly... it won't be me!!

I reckon bands do this to
hype up the sales of the last album
or tickets for their supposed farewell
tour!
They know fine well if they suddenly
announce another tour people will
buy the tickets incase it's the last ever
chance to see them!
As for the price I can't believe bands
have the neck to charge that amount!
Some of them forget the people who
put them there in the first place!
