From yesterday's Hall of Fame entry, The Police, we head into the unknown with #4 in my Favorite "Sun" Songs series: "Walk into the Sun" by The March Violets.
In the early 1980's, if you were a goth band from Leeds, England, odds are you used a drum machine. Formed in 1981, The March Violets were one of those bands. And despite a couple lineup changes (and back again) and a lengthy hiatus, they are still at it. While the band eventually distanced themselves from the goth tag by moving in a more pop-friendly direction, they remain popular within the goth community (goth band Children on Stun even named themselves after the Violets' song "Children on Stun.") The March Violets have placed seven singles onto the UK Indie chart.
"Walk into the Sun" was one of the final two singles released by the band on their own Rebirth label (they signed to London Records shortly after.) It features The March Violets' standard male/female vocal interplay, in this case, original vocalist Simon Denbigh and then-newcomer Cleo Murray (original singer Rosie Garland has since returned to the lineup, which features three of the original four members.)
(Info verified by Wikipedia, The March Violets website)
Salacious sounds from gloomy Leeds band The March Violets. This is their 5th single 'WALK INTO THE SUN' (1984). LISTEN LOUD! Simon Denbigh - vocals. Cleo Mur...

I hadn't heard these Scott, or if I had, I don't recall which is often the case.
They are reminding me of a time, a place, someone, or possibly some other band.
I love it in any case, thanks again for brightening my day.
It is sunny today too and aren't we grateful.

I think it's supposed to rain here today at some point. But it's really nice so far.

Are they still touring. Sounds like they may. Nice catchy tempo to a goth song. Very spirited for sure.

The last mention of live performance on their website had them doing gigs over here in 2014.

You got me here but I am not too familiar with Goth. They do have an 80s vibe.

They definitely aren't a big name like The Sisters of Mercy. Both from Leeds.
