Bicycles as a form of transport

In a densely populated place like Singapore, I feel that the public transport is convenient but there are prominent overcrowding issues.
Lately in the past few months, I see a lot of bicycles on the roads and I found out that they are called "Mobikes". This is what I obtained from their website: After downloading the App and registering, simply scan the QR code on the bike and ride away. Simply close the lock once you've parked in a bicycle parking area!
I see a lot of people using it. These bicycles are parked at neighbourhood areas, on pavements etc. I think that this is a very innovative idea! It can encourage people to cycle and be more environmentally-friendly.
Do you have such initiatives in your countries? What other forms of unconventional public transports have you heard of?

The sharing bikes are quite popular here. And there are at least five sharing bikes companies in my city. I am a user of two of them. One is Mobike and the other is called Bluegogo. And due to the competition, they often offer free riding service for users. This is why I like to ride a bike so much. I even go to the market by riding a bike

I think it will be great to have that here too. But as the city is too dense with buses and trucks it wont be that safe everywhere. Just a few places. But I hope the government will encourage a project that is something like this.

They tried it in my old town
years ago. At that time it was a coin
you put in to release the bike and you
got your money back when you returned
the bike to any of the racks in town.
Although they used really old style bikes
that were practically worthless and painted
a horrible colour most of them went
missing in under a month.

It is a nice innovation. I think it is beneficial for the user and environmental both and should be followed by other countries.
