Mentally Exhausted

I've been too pooped to myLot. It began Saturday when we drove through heavy traffic and horrendous road construction on our way to New York City to see our granddaughter perform on stage in a wonderful production.
We arrived late, but managed to see her ballet performance. Of course, she was awesome!
Our son and grandson met us for kisses and hugs after the show, but rushed off to take one of their dogs to a vet appointment. It was nice seeing them for 45 seconds!
We managed to get backstage to congratulate our granddaughter and give her a heavy bouquet of flowers. As it turned out, she was all alone. Her mom went out to get her something to eat before her next performance and hadn't returned. We waited with her, of course. Fortunately, she voice texted her mom, and after 40 minutes Mom pulled up in front of the theater.
My husband gave our daughter in law the heavy bouquet to leave in the car. The other grammy was there for the next performance, so grabbed the food while our daughter in law parked her car. Then it was rush rush and quick goodbye kisses.
Our parking fee for 2+ hours was $63. We encountered traffic all the way home. My husband unlocked the house doors for me, and drove off to pick up dinner. We were too beat to go out as we had intended.
I've been good for nothing since. It was a day of stress, and I don't do well with stress, so I've been taking it out in my garden since Saturday.
Now I'm physically exhausted. Can't win!

It's all over now. Atleast you got what you went there for. Now take it easy and take some rest.

I'm sorry you were late for the show, but not too late to see her performance. I'm sure she was great. She looks fantastic in that costume. Parking fees in NYC are horrendous! Gardening is the best thing for all that stress. Physical exhaustion should make you sleep very good.
I hope you have a great day.

@DianneN It's been good and disappointing at the same time. I woke with a major headache, so no pool this morning, and then Mom's sewing machine doesn't work. Posted about that.
I'm sorry he couldn't find a nice place to park and there are only garages in Midtown. They don't charge by the hour or was that the hourly charge? It's a wonder people can afford to have a car in NYC with those prices.

Oh gosh, yes, being on the road can surely be stressful! But I'm glad you made it in time to see the stage princess on stage and to be able to hang out with her a bit afterwards. Wow, the parking is pretty hefty - is that typical ?

@DianneN I know what you mean by her being left alone . . . but at the same time it's good to hear she can hold her own in that situation. I'm sure she was thrilled to have her family come to watch her performance! Wow, that's so crazy parking is that high . . . and here I am barking about $12 parking I had the other day .

It was so stressful, but I was so happy we didn't miss her performance. I couldn't believe she was left all alone, but my husband said that she is pretty savvy and there were lots of theater people who knew her. She is something else, totally! lol Some places are less and some are even more outrageous. When we go to my NYC beauty doctor, it's $75 an hour!!!! Such a rip off, but midtown is like that. Love it or leave it.

Although you are exhausted it was well worth it to see your beautiful grand daughter perform. The picture is adorable. Hope you get lots of rest tonight.

@Happy2BeMe Thank you! I did. I've been doing lots of gardening and reading and had two naps! Visitors have kept me hopping, too. Another early night for me.

That sounds how life is when we try to do special things with the grand kids. Stress will really get you down. I am hoping to have all my stressing done for now and have a nice orderly day tomorrow, except for 8th grade graduation in the morning and packing the vehicle.

Oh I know those dang construction sites on the road, such a pain.
Yes you must be so tired Dianne!
A lovely photo there of the little ballerina love dressed in the sailor outfit.
Well just get back to us when you can and rest up if you can.

That drive to New York does sound horrendous, and what an expensive parking fee. Glad you managed to get there in time to see your granddaughter perform.
I'm pretty tired too as I'm busy getting my garden planted - I don't seem to have the stamina I used to have.

The drive was so frustrating and awful, but thank goodness we made her performance. I would have been so disappointed if I missed it. Parking fees in NYC have always been outrageous, but this was bad, even for midtown.
My stamina isn't what it used to be either, so I do as much as I can and call it quits for the day. I'm itching to see your current garden.

It's such a shame that a day that should have been nothing but love, laughter and smiles turned into something stressful. Why does life have to do that to all of us? The important thing is, you made it to see your granddaughter, and I'm sure that's something she'll remember forever.

Despite all the stress I am sure the joy of seeing your loved ones made up for it all. I have to work this weekend and it will be a long one I know it will be 2 long days. The scheduler hinted that she wasn't sure of how many clients I will have to see because of so many people who are unavailable to work.
It isn't easy to find someone to watch Little Miss on the weekend. My sister was going to do it and will in a pinch if I really need her to. She works 3 jobs and has a graduation party to attend this weekend. My daughter is coming over to watch her for me. She loves her Aunt Ceece and will be in good hands. Hopefully she will be in good health and not back out on me.

She watched her yesterday and wanted to back out entirely today. Unfortunately I need her to watch her this afternoon. My sister can watch her this morning, but has a graduation party to attend this afternoon. So, my daughter has agreed to watch her this afternoon.
What I need is to find a job where I don't have to work weekends.

It sounds like a very stressful day for you Dianne and I can imagine how exhausted you must be. I know you enjoyed seeing your granddaughter perform but the trip itself probably took away the thrill.

@Courtlynn Thanks! Things will be more relaxing until next weekend when the grandkids come with their parents for the weekend. Those little ones exhaust us, but we love it.

It puts things into focus since we have had rain for the last two days since Sunday but after the latest storm passed at dinner in the Lake Charles area, it will be cooler for a few days before a heatwave is supposed to come next week.
