I am not sure whether you have observed it or not. I have observed that many newbies join mylot and seek our guidance. Those of us who are here for a long time guide and encourage them to be active on mylot. I have noticed that most of them don't stick to the site, they remain active for a short period and then they disappear. Either they find that writing posts is not as easy, as they had presumed or they find that mylot is not a quick money making site or they don't find mylot like other social networking sites.
I wish that those who join mylot could stick to the site and could remain active, as per their own convenience, so that there could be more members to interact.
What is your take on it?

@LadyDuck - Yes, there are some old users, who keep experimenting with newer sites for earning more and more money. Like you I am loyal to mylot for the last many years.

It all boils down to money. They (read newbies) join the site only for the purpose of making money and when they find that meter is running slower than their expectations, they decide to quite the site.

@dpk262006 There are also old users that move to every new site they see to make more money. Then, when the payments stop, they come back. I am loyal here.

@Nawsheen - Yes, if more number of users are active here, it will be more fun here. You seem to be right that those looking for quick money, leave the site because they do not have patience and they forget that here earning money should not be the only motive.

@dpk262006 what i meant to say is that nowadays this site is slow and if there would have been many more people around like newbies joining mylot this would not have been the case. There would have been more people to interact with. I think most of them leave because they find it difficult to earn over here. We do try to support the newbies at times but well they are not motivated

Yes, your efforts are commendable. However, newbies do not stick to the side, which feels disheartening. More number of active members could bring in more liveliness here on mylot.

Yes, many newbies start with a bang and promise they are going to continue here. The claim that they have liked the site very much. However, after few days or weeks, they vanish into thin air. It feels bad if they do not respond to our comments/posts.

I was here since 2007 but my reason for not being active is because, I got hired and the kind of job has nothing to do with internet..it is more of inventory monitoring..I must be at work from 6am to 11pm ..so tiring and exhausting..arguments here and there..gosh..so you think I can still make time for mylot?

If you joined in 2007, we cannot count you under the category of a newbie.
Nonetheless, it is understandable that when you were in a regular job, where you did not have internet access, you just could not log in to mylot. Are you still doing the same job or you have found another one because now you are 'visible' in discussions.

@m_audrey6788 - You should better call yourself a house maker or house manager rather than calling yourself a housewife. It means that now you have quit the job and you could afford to do mylotting.

Some of the newbies feel that throwing up a discussion or two will net them a lot of money. No interaction with others. No responding to comments....then....they leave because their bank didn't move.
I've been here for about a year and a half. Sometimes I am very active, other times life keeps me busy elsewhere.

Yes, you are very right that newbies do not have patience. Even if we guide and encourage them, they perhaps look for quick money and when they do not find it, they run away. I wish that they could spend more time and could improve their writing and communication skills.

You mean to say that newbies do not have the patience. They do not want to wait for their earnings. They feel that some sentences here and there should be enough to make few Dollars, however, when this does not happen, they quit the site.

@JudyEv Do you mean to say that we should be patient enough to see their activities, whether they are regular and active here or not?
Yes, it takes time to settle down and one is only noticed if s/he is regular here.

@dpk262006 You said those things, not me. I didn't say they didn't have patience. I said people need to have patience when they join. It takes time sometimes just for their names to be recognised and for a person to suddenly realise that someone has been commenting regularly. Some put up 10 posts a day of one sentence each post so of course that doesn't win them any friends or many responses/comments. And then they get discouraged. If they read the guidelines and did a bit more homework on the site they might do better. There are plenty of informative posts about the best way to do well here.

If anyone come here only with the purpose to make money then I think it would be harder for them to stick to this site ... for me this site is providing a great platform through which I can flourish our writing with discussing several writers from the every precinct of the world...

You got it right @ranan1989 that if newbies join the site for the sole purpose of earning and they do not want to improve their writing and communication skills, then they would quite the site sooner or later. I have seen some newbies start very interesting discussions, they interact too on their discussion, however, after few days, they are nowhere to be seen.
It is great on your part that you are active on mylot. Keep it up. Nice to meet you.

I am not observing that much, I mean, whenever I interacted with a newbie I provide my reply there as per the topic. Then I works according to the notifications. I have much notifications to clear so once I cleared then I check the recent topics. I have no specific observation on newbies and not following them to know whether they are active or not.

It means that you already have so many notifications to attend that you do not get time to check whether a newbie, with whom you had recently interacted has been working on mylot or not?

@dpk262006 My time in mylot is very limited as I have to complete my works in office as well. So within the limited time I can do whatever possible by me. Usually I don't have time to check who left in mylot. If it is a known person, I remember, that particular person is not around. I hope you got my points.

Yes, you are very right that newbies probably join with the sole aim of earning quick money. They perhaps do not know that there are many other things to learn besides earning here. However, when they find that money meter is ticking slowly, you lose their patience and start looking for some other sites. They are not aware what are the benefits of interacting with fellow mylotters.
