Left Me Teary Eyed Again

Philippines

Last night my husband told me the president had declared Martial Law in the entire island of Mindanao. That means, we are included since we belong in this island. I have worries, I'm trying to keep myself calm about this news but deep inside I'm worried and scared of what might happen. I believe the purpose of this Martial Law is much more different from the past. Upon opening my Facebook, I have seen a flood of posts about the declaration of the president. I also happened to sneak on photos being shared by people of the most affected area and it left me teary eyed again. My heart sank for this civilians with their families trying to escape from the rage. I hope the military force will succeed in their purpose and that they will not abuse their powers. And I pray for the civilians and military's safety. My friends, I'm asking for more prayers. Thank you.

I will absolutely be praying for everyone's safety and that the military does not abuse their power-I think that would scare me the most for sure if it was happening here.

Martial law is always scary. So far I've been fortunate enough to not be under it here.

I'm glad to finally hear from someone here who's on the scene. I just started a discussion hoping some of our friends from the Philippines would report on what's happening. My prayers are with you, and I hope you will be safe.

thank you. . so far, i have not seen anything unusual here since last night. .. everything is normal except from the different reactions and misinterpretations i read online from my fellow Filipinos who are not in my area. they seemed feel like the world will end while they are not even covered by the declaration.

@carexing25 I have seen some of those commentaries, too. It sounds to me as though your president is responding to terrorism and trying to keep citizens in the South safe from ISIS extremists, but I am unaware of political issues in your country and don't feel qualifies to have an opinion. I just want everyone to be safe. That's why I ask for comments from those closer to the scene.
