It's too expensive for me because I'm broke, lol... But actually, I just got a magazine that shows the launch price of video game systems dating back to the Magnavox Odyssey (1972). It also shows the price the system would be after today's inflation added into it. The Neo Geo (1990) was released at $650!!! And after adding inflation, it ends up being $1,012!!! And the 3DO (1993) was released at $700 ($986 after inflation). Sega Saturn (1995) was $399 ($533 after inflation). Every game system that has been released after the Magnavox has been $200 or more when released. Just think about paying $300 for a Mattel Intellivison. Or $400 for the Sega Saturn. That's a lot of money for very little. Now think about everything you're getting with the PS3, and you realize the price is very reasonable... Reasonable but not very affordable, especially with the economy today. It's hard to shell out $600 for something that's not necessary. I don't think I know anyone who has $600, plus another $150 or so just for a couple games and controller, to spare. And with the 360 only being $400, I think PS3 could be in trouble. $200 is a huge difference for two systems without a whole lot of differences. Anyone who read all of this is awesome!=)
Most information here I got from a Magazine...
