Hiding behind the wall of our beliefs can greatly affect our lives

Can we really hide behind our beliefs, or not? Can we change our beliefs, or not? What exactly are beliefs, anyway?
Any belief can create a wall that you might either sit on, or stay behind, fighting against the wall.
There you sit thinking about it, or even obsessing about it, and how it might be limiting you, and making you follow that obsessional belief.
This is all because you make an allowance for it, saying that the belief is good for you, and that it will do no harm to you.
Really, though, to get past any belief's hold on you, you need to see that it is harming you in wasting some of the precious time of your life, and that better things can come from your developing a new belief about this issue, better than the one that is currently not serving you optimally so.

I am more of a seeker and never hide behind my beliefs.
I feel what is handed down is meaningful for the march ahead but should not limit us.
The problem is some are in conflict as their beliefs do not give them the wherewithal to change according to the times and then they take it out on those who live to enjoy their moments under the sun.
I want to understand all beliefs but take them with a grain of salt.
Okay, no one wants the almighty standing at the gates staring down at them - "what the hell are you here for; you do not belong in here. Off with his head!"
It is better to be curious to an extent - not forgetting curiosity killed the cat - so that my life becomes meaningful than just get led by few with less than honorable intentions. Then we prove gullible and should not blame others.
As long as we live and let others live, we are doing alright - siva

To live & let, and to let & live is a good balanced approach, and yet if we are not careful, this way of living can sometimes miss something vital too. That is if we are too blase, and relaxed/laid-backed, in this approach.
We are to find our own selves within oneness, and to believe in who we are, and not just blend in with others, and become nondescript, by our doing so.
Love lives and loves in different uniquely different ways in each channel or vehicle of itself loving.
This always happens if that vehicle allows this loving not to be restricted by any hindering beliefs, thoughts, or behaviours, or even copycatting of others. Always, we must all think and love and be ourselves in our own uniqueness of ways.

@Shiva49 Be aware of the charlatans. Yes, we need to increase our understanding of them enough not to become trapped or misled away from love's light by them.
We should be carefully always cautious of our being led astray by others then, but is this always a good idea for us to follow.
Is the Devil's tempting of us something to fear, or watch out for, and be cautious about then, or not?
Love is ever cautious, in one way, and yet it never really ever needs to be so, if we are ready enough to receive its full light unto us, into ourselves.
This is because love wants to shine on all, but only when they are ready to receive it, without their being burnt.
"I have much more to tell you," said Jesus to his disciples, "but you are not ready to hear it, as yet."
"I have much more to say to you, more than you can now bear."
John, chapter 16, verse 12. Jesus is talking to his disciples here.
We all need to become more ready to receive more love, and so we need to allow ourselves to grow, and not to stagnate by our living away from love, within our own shades of darkness, or within anyone else's darkness too.

@innertalks Yes Steve, we should understand where others come from and then shine our own light. I agree if we are too content we can become lazy too and our lives will have nothing to show for it!
We have to be like the stars shining and illuminating the planets around us and give atmosphere for thriving life like our sun does. Nature is the great teacher in terms of how to live, rejuvenate, recreate and live and let live too.
We should never allow our beliefs to limit us but they are a guide to the possibilities and wisdom. But then we have to be beware of the charlatans, who are mostly hypocritical too, looking for the gullible - siva

Yes, sometimes our beliefs are way off the mark, of the real truth.
There are good and bad beliefs. Some help us, some hinder us.
What is a good belief, then, and how does it help us?
A good belief helps you to climb over previously built walls of beliefs, by placing itself up against the side of the wall, and letting you see over it then from a greater height.
If you like what you see and it makes more sense for you on the other side of that wall, climb over it with that new better belief, but don't allow any more old beliefs to pile up again against each other, and to make any new walls, that only hold you back, ever again.

@Julie555 Thanks, yes the wall can be something we bang our head against with our beliefs, but we must change our beliefs, and stop banging our heads against the wall. We will never make a hole through the wall in that way. We must change our beliefs, and so climb over the wall, or even see that really it is not really there.
Our wrong beliefs are built with false bricks. The wall is an illusion.
Really the only obstacles are all self-made ones, held in place by our beliefs.

@artemeis Being curious and open minded has served me well.
I see this creation without any borders and privileged to be part of it.
Our problems are due to "us and "them", "mine", "yours" when nothing belongs to us - what is with us will leave us sooner than we think.
Buddha said "learn to let go" and that is key to freedom and then enlightenment - siva

@innertalks Yes, we need to be vigilant and make our own analysis and live life as is meant and not get cowed down by those who play know all to control us, as if they are in constant touch with the almighty.
Our creator is separate from us but is present everywhere, so nothing to worry when everything we do, think, is to benefit the whole process. We need to be co-creators chipping in to set things right; then when we bid adieu we leave in fulfillment of a life well lived - siva

We need to scale that wall to check out the other side

Yes, we shouldn't just sit too comfortably behind the wall, thinking that it is protecting us. Maybe it is more imprisoning us instead!
Sometimes we need to pull it apart stone by stone, or belief by belief, though, especially if the wall appears to be too high for us to try to scale. We fear dismantling our beliefs, or our belief system.
