In Estonia it will be Christmas and New Year in Winter and St.John's day in summer. The day before St.John's day Estonian troops won the decisive battle in our Independence War 1919. In the evening of that day are bonfires burning everywhere around the country. The tradition of bonfires is actually much older than our independency. Earlier just the shortest night of the year was celebrated. It's really short and very light.

Our biggest celebration is Christmas. It seems to be the one time of year that there are no excuses for the kids not to get together. I ask everyone what date is good for them to get together and go from there. I decorate the house to the rafters. I am in kitchen cooking for a week before the big day.
When the big day arrives, I can relax and enjoy myself.
