My children do not know how to keep trash up out of my yard. You can watch tgem and they just open some thing and throw it down. My husband told them to go out and start cleaning tge yard this morning. They decided that they wanted to play while it was cool. We all went out there to work on the yard and they were not happy at all. But we worked on the front yard but it is not that big. And they cleaned off my porch. We come in after that. It was way to hot to do anything out there today. Our plans are to go out there in the morning vefore it gets hot to at least start on the back yard. It is pretty big so i am not sure if it will get done or not but we can get as much as we can. Hope everyone has had a great day today.

They are 10 and 8. They know that when they do that we are going to have to clean it up so i do not know why they would not throw it in tge trash.

@Jdaw1985 definitely old enough to understand cleaning up and what not. But they are kids, and kids dont always listen to parents. Hope they help clean tomorrow on their own

My kids stopped doing that when we started making them clean the yard every time by themselves. Plus, maybe a little extreme but we told them the police would take all of their piggy bank money if they keep littering. They stopped doing it!

It can get tiring to clean the yard if the kids continue to tnrow things. It is a good thing that you made them work. It is Sunday here and my day has just started

A good idea to train the children. They will learn it slowly.

Yes it is and hope that they do learn it. I even at times ask them to pick up someone else's trash at a store so that someone else does not have to do it. I do not do that all the time just some times.

Haha.. They are still kids.. Let them play ... Its not an age to get serious about anything... They have to see many ups and down in life so.. Dont force them to ruin their childhood... Let them play... And i m sure.. One day. They were laughing remembering these days

I am not ale to do that LOL. With the new baby coming I have to make sure that they know eight from wrong. My son only has 8 years and he will be grown. So I only have 8 years to teach him that it is not right to do that.

adults do that too and kids will imitate what they see evenif you twoare very neat.you are right they are old enough to know to put trash in the trrash baskets hope they start obeying you its important for kids to learn early not to throw trash on the ground but in containers for trash. l

My dad was born in North Carolina. I didn't ever get to go there except for a short time in very early infancy. I was about under a year of age when we stopped to visit Granddaddy Davis. Yard work is hard but I think doing it in early morning is best. The heat can be dangerous when summer hits. Temps in Dallas in the lower 100's and that can take a toll on anyone. Getting the children to help out is a major win win for any parent these days as most of them are spoiled rotten by indoor activities and the internet and forget about how us old ones enjoyed being outside on a good day and soaking in the sunshine.

You are so right about that. My kids do not even have a game system for that reason.

It's a great idea to make them have to deal with the results of being so careless. Good parenting!

Thank you we try LOL and with the new baby coming soon I am trying to get them to under stand that I am not going to be able to help them do it once he comes. That means that they will have to do it all on there own and I need them to keep it up so that there brother will learn from them not to do that.
