Self Publishing vs Traditional

Just finished a story and someone told me it is best to self publish. Others suggested going traditional, like approaching the publishing company or hiring an agent. I'm doing some editing now and I'm not really sure what's the best option for my story

Both of these options are matter of time.
With self publishing you would have to fund the whole by self for the marketing and all (as i know).
And with the publishers.. it would solely on their wish to publish or not.
So, decision is of course tough. Still.. i would suggest for going to the publishers first.. try this for a time because after that you can the self publishing is always there for you.
This might save your time and hope.
