#Interrogating with PAST: is it NATURAL?#

May 28, 2017 3:47am CST
From a long time span I have been dotted with a question that whatever I have done in my passed 26 years upbringings does it make any sense in my present livelihood. Whatever the experience would be(good or bad)most of the time I realize that it's only affect on my present moment. Though I want to circumvent that problem, most of the time I get failed to achieve success on it. For instance,if I felt some delicacy in past the experience sway me on a particular direction and I lose my control over mind paradoxically when I look at the painful moments of the past it also affect my present activity. While thinking deeply and introspecting on it I came to know there is nothing remains in the past but still the memories are hunting me in acutely but can not get out of this. Is it a natural phenomenon or am I overrthinking about these issues??don't know much about it ... Waiting for your view on that issue...

Yes this can greatly affect some people, some of us in the world. Others do not seem to even have recollection, or do not care enough about what is in the past to let it affect them. Some thoughts from the past, memories, traumas can produce not only a presence in the present in the mind of the individual, but can even transform how you live because it can chemically change the brain. This is what I have learned so far and more. Is something of the past bothering you?

@ranan1989 I thought that was what was the matter. I too suffer from this malady. It is depression, but with talking about it in myLot, it can help to focus your mind and do better, knowing that others can understand you and how you are progressing. I am glad to know you here, and I am sorry to know you also have this experience. It makes me so angry if I keep thinking of past bad choices and regret and so on, and then I make the anger into something to accomplish, a task to do. And I can regain some control of my mind that way. I understand that these racing thoughts can paralyze you from success in tasks that must be done. To overcome it is not easy and sometimes I must take a medicine to help.

There was this point in my life where i was stuck in the past. I was so blinded by past memories that I couldn't see the present opportunities in front of me. I had a friend who helped me get over my past. This friend is ''differently abled'' and seeing the way he was tackling his problems and living inspired me. Letting go of the past was definitely not easy for me but i had to. I realised that holding past memories was only weakening me. I managed to let go of my past finally and well i am enjoying the present now

The past 'sets a pattern' for the present and the future ... sort of the way a song's introductory music will 'set the pattern' for the verses & the chorus & the finish.
Download free background music mp3 files from Melody Loops. Use with personal and commercial projects include YouTube videos and Powerpoint presentations.

@ranan1989 But you do understand what I was saying---how the first parts of a song kind of set listeners up for the middle parts and the end parts?

@mythociate by understanding your comment I have made my comment

Overthinking the issue. You can't do anything with the past and you can't project it into the future. You only have the present, so focus on that.

@ranan1989 that is 'sublimation' a defense mechanism. lifting your problem to the higher level. another is suppression, and repression as well.

We always bear in ourself the Past, Present and the Future---its all part of our very being. One who know this has the potential for self-mastery.

Our past makes us who we are today. I'd just deal with the present as best as I could.
