This is a photo I took while on a hike with my boyfriend in Gatlinburg, TN. This was right after all of the big fires they were having there. Surprisingly Gatlinburg wasn't as burned up as the media made it out to be. Only one place closed down because of the fire. A lot of more of the trees were cut down instead of burned down/knocked down from the fires.

Very nice! Looks like a very old tree. What a story, it could tell.

Who knew we all will be here discussing the beauty of this tree which was cut down. There are uncountable trees and you made the day of this tree by taking such a beautiful photo of it. This photo is really incredible.
Those rings are the annual rings which tells about the age of the tree. The number of rings are equal to the age of the tree.
I really feel bad of how these days, forests are burned down easily. It destroys much of the ecosystem.

Yes, these were caused by a forest fire that had started. We had a lot of dry weather and no rain so several had started. It is sad that a lot of trees got burned up but sometimes it is good for the forest and helps thin it out and let's new ecosystems and creatures live there.

I did go to Gatlinburg last year and this is when I took the picture. It was just about a month or 2 after the fires had happened. My college is in the mountains/right off the blue ridge parkway. We had forest fires in towns all around us. The one at Lake Lure is only an hour away from my campus, then the one in TN broke out. It was around the time for Thanksgiving break and the day after I came home for break a fire was set by some dumba**es in Boone, NC right off the road I take to get home and someone set on in Linville which is like 3o minutes away from my college campus. We were lucky and none of the fires got to the college town but it was close. We thought they were going to have to extend Thanksgiving break because of they didn't want us coming back up with Boone on fire but they got it under control before we had to drive back.

Yes I remember that terrible fire.
That is a very cool photo you got there Casey. They say you can tell how old a tree is by how many rings..that one is old.
Dolly Parton helped all the people too didn't she in that fire.

Other parts of TN got it a lot worse. The media made Gatlinburg, TN look worse than it was but I guess that is what happens when it is a tourist town that the fire hits.

I am glad this photo turned out the way it did. I While looking at it on the camera screening it looked nothing like this.

It was a pretty big tree stump left. This is just a picture of the middle of it. There was still a lot of it not in the frame.

I don't know but a lot of them were cut down. Maybe from the fires but who knows why humans do the things they do anymore.
