Thank you Jesus

I just have to give it up to the man upstairs for taking care of me. I had been in pain so bad last night that I thought I would be having to go to the ER. But, time and prayer took care of it. Today is the day before Memorial Day and I have given thanks to God for another day of life on Planet Earth. It may seem simple minded but when I left to go buy paint for the kitchen for the Memorial Day special at Lowe's we found the colors that fit the plan and we stopped over to grab a bite for late lunch. My first kindly encounter was with a nice young lady who worked at Taco Bell. I found an associates brand new ball cap on the wet ground after the rain and picked it up and brought it to the lady at the counter. "Looks like somebody lost their Taco Bell cap." She thanked me and I ordered a simple single bean burrito. I told her my name was Tony and the order was given in under a minute. I reached over to pick up some taco sauce and napkins for my take out order. And as I walked out the door the lady said, "Thankyou." She didn't have to say anything. Sometimes it's just the sincerity in her voice. I knew she was being nice and we took off to my wife's favorite spot but The lady at the Church's Chicken looked at the 4 dollar special and told me I had to wait for another day to use the coupon. So, I took us to a nearby Jack in the Box and ordered my wife a bacon-cheese Jack and a Value fries. The man at the counter was friendly to me and put up with my small talk as I ranted about the police in the area giving tickets out like it they were 2 for 1. Then I took my order and thanked the man and turned and asked, 'How much for a cup of medium coffee?' He made me a cup of coffee and handed it to me and said, "It's on Me." I was taken by surprise but really did appreciate his gift of a cup of coffee. Nobody would pass up a free drink of the best beverage on planet Earth. We came home and turned on the A/C and got washed up. It was time to chill out and wipe the sweat from the hot mugginess of the afternoon on a Sunday, the day before Memorial Day, 2017. I was happy. My wife was content with her meal. I thank Jesus for making it a better day for both of us. There was one minor thing that went a bit off... Two strangers walked over to our car while she was waiting outside for me to place an order at Taco Bell, carrying a can of gasoline and asked her if, "Can you take me across the street to get gas so I don't have to walk?" She replied, "My husband will be out in a second. I think you can get there on your own without my help." As I walked out the front entry of Taco Bell, I asked her what was up with those 2 guys? She told me they ran when they saw me coming. Today I had the choice to either stay at home or go out along with my wife to shop for paint and get a few things at a Kroger and Dollar Tree. I chose to go with her. That is why I thank you Jesus. Because I was there to give back a lost hat, to accompany my wife and keep her protected against strangers trying to hitch a ride and got a free cup of coffee in the deal.

It is always good to thank Jesus even if you only have 1 thing to thank him for and that is waking up.

Amen to that. For sure. I thank Jesus for another day because it is a GIFT from God, not to be taken for granted or wasted by me. There was a time before when I was very proud but time has made me humble.

It was free so what can I say. I usually don't get a free cup of coffee anywhere.

Yes. You need Jesus out there in the world and also right at home or at any moment in your life, as there usually are many things that test your resolve and grow your faith.

@lookatdesktop What did the old timers used to say? There are no atheists in fox holes. When problems come, as they do to us all, it's good to know where our help comes from.

Amen to that. I may be a closet Christian at times, acting like I don't need any help but when the real tests come to challenge me, I cry out his name without hesitation. I am humble by this.

I would have been very upset if they had tried anything to harm her. I am glad they had time to think twice before acting on impulse.
