Are there any benefits of attending a single-sex schools..??

In my nation.. I found that all those students who had attended a single sex school mostly under coñfident while talking with another sex... Whether they are male or female... They dont want to communicate with each other... Some of them becomes shy in nature.. Whereas some becomes desperate... I dont find any benefit of this kind of schools... What do you think..??
