How to read your residential natural gas meter for a lazy person

I took a pic at our gas meter but it was all fuzzy. It has 6 dials on it. 4 are the ones that are used by the meter reader to determine how much gas was used between such and such dates.
This is a bit of information I have gathered for you to take a look at:
First - Read your numbers from Left to Right ... there are 4 numbers to read.
Second - Select the lower number if the hand is between the two numbers. (If the dial is between 0 and 1, choose the number 0)
Third - " When the hand looks as though it is DIRECTLY on the number, look at the dial to the right. If the dial on the right has passed "0," use the number that the hand is on. If the dial on the right has not passed "0," use the number less than what the hand is on." -source of this third quote is directly from the following URL address:

Fourth - The number that you would write down from left to right in this case would be 2204.

I remember having to do this when the gas company was over charging me.
By doing so, I was able to fight them and won.
