And Now This Happens!

Hubby just called me on his lunch break. The plant where he works is shutting down for a couple of weeks.
My husband does have vacation time he can use to supplement our income. I hope that he will be able to take vacation time in July when we were planning our vacation.
At least he isn't being laid off. The plant laid off quite a few people a couple of weeks ago.
Hoping this is the last of the not so great news we get for a while.

I just let my guard down and ordered some new shoes for the two of us. Good thing I can pay on them. I used my credit card.

@LovingMyBabies we all need a treat every now and again. However when the rug gets yanked out from under you it leaves you feeling unsettled and wondering how you'll get back on your feet.
Just have to learn to breathe I guess.

@ElusiveButterfly I did that last week, not with shoes but I treated my kids to lunch thinking I was babysitting and would be able to put the money right back. Then she told me last minute I wasn't watching her boys and I immediately felt guilty. I know the feeling. =(
I never spend unless I know i will make it back. I did it because I thought it was definite that I would be watching them.

I am probably going to not take time off in July. I also have to take a week off in August because daycare will be closed. So, better to not take a vacation until then.

@Juliaacv we were planning a weekend in Maine, but not sure we can do it at this point. Funds are few because of my getting less hours.

@ElusiveButterfly You can probably squeeze in little weekend trips here and there to break up the summer.

I just told the scheduler that one of my clients is going into a nursing home and this will leave a huge gap in my schedule. She is working on filling the spot now. I can't keep losing money every day.

@dodo19 I have only one client for tomorrow. Hopefully they will place me with the client I had today. She had an appointment today and had to cut the visit short. She needs someone to do her laundry.

I am not sure how much vacation time he gets. I believe it is now 3 weeks. Will have to wait until he gets home to ask him.

A couple of their contracts fell through. Damnation. It is always something.

Valerie, we have been through it once before, when he first started working there. He wasn't out long before they called him back. Hopefully another lay-off won't happen. Have to wait until July to see what happens.

@just4him I was taking the week of July 4th off. But, I will most likely work. Not a big deal. I am sure the scheduler will be glad to have me working.

We are ready for whatever comes our way. Thankful that we have only one vehicle payment to make instead of two.

He will get his vacation pay. But that means no actual vacation again this year.

I am going to talk him into going to Maine for a weekend. We can afford to drive out and back. We will stay with my sister so that will save us money too.

Thank you Courtney. On the upside, I guess he can get the garden spot ready for planting. He will have time to do it now. LOL.

Yes there are so many people getting laid off these days. I'm sorry for them since life will be harder for them.

I see you're in the States. I thought your new government was creating jobs all over the place, bringing industry back to your country. Or so I read on Twitter. Maybe you've said before and I missed it - what is the plant your husband works in? ( and so sorry to hear this - it's got to be frightening, what with the previous layoffs on your mind )

He works for a company that makes the components for bridges and buildings.
I don't know where the new jobs are, but they aren't coming to our area.

@ElusiveButterfly - bridges and buildings parts? I've read there's talk of massive infrastructure repairs your government wants to start - if that happens, you're laughing. Well, good luck to you and your hubby, nice lady. - and luck on getting a vacation into the bargain as well...
