a beautiful day, with beautiful people

A friend of mine owns a narrow boat and so, a couple of times a year, a bunch of us get to enjoy the meanderings of the river, just for a few hours.
Today was a perfect day for chugging along in the boat, with beautiful blue skies, bright sunshine and a cool breeze. We met swans and ducks in the water, children playing on the riverside, cows grazing in the meadows and rowers, practising their rowing skills perhaps in training to be picked for next year's infamous rowing squad. Lunch came courtesy of a riverside pub, fish finger sandwiches and sweet potato fries. Yummy.
And then we chugged merrily back into the city.
Later, coffee in a little Sicilian café where we were joined by a couple of others. Idle chatter, insignificant gossip, giggles and sweet banter, before heading to the park to enjoy the late afternoon sunshine.
I am on the bus home now. The sun is still shining, the skies are still blue. I feel so relaxed. There is much joy to be found in just chilling.
*smile*

Definitely. It looked like rain this morning, and then it got a bit too hot, but finally the weather settled for Just Right. I like it when the weather is kind like that.

I wish I could relate but it's 93 degrees outside and no one comes outside where I live.

Me too ... do you have to pay extra for sweet potato fries? Often we have to pay about £1 to 'upgrade' to them! It's a tad annoying, but they are yummy.

@Poppylicious I don't remember it being an 'upgrade' option, just part of the side dishes menu.
Someone told me sweet potato is healthier, is it true? I just like it - I guess because it's a change for me from the normal (boring?) potato...

@sishy7 A lot of places here offer the option to upgrade it instead of having ordinary chips. Hopefully as they become more popular they'll just be an option, rather than an upgrade. I don't know if it's healthier, but they do make a nice change.

It's half-term ... a week long holiday for those of us who are savvy {or stupid?} enough to work in education here in the UK. :) Back to work on Monday ... :(
