a beautiful day, with beautiful people

A friend of mine owns a narrow boat and so, a couple of times a year, a bunch of us get to enjoy the meanderings of the river, just for a few hours. Today was a perfect day for chugging along in the boat, with beautiful blue skies, bright sunshine and a cool breeze. We met swans and ducks in the water, children playing on the riverside, cows grazing in the meadows and rowers, practising their rowing skills perhaps in training to be picked for next year's infamous rowing squad. Lunch came courtesy of a riverside pub, fish finger sandwiches and sweet potato fries. Yummy. And then we chugged merrily back into the city. Later, coffee in a little Sicilian café where we were joined by a couple of others. Idle chatter, insignificant gossip, giggles and sweet banter, before heading to the park to enjoy the late afternoon sunshine. I am on the bus home now. The sun is still shining, the skies are still blue. I feel so relaxed. There is much joy to be found in just chilling. *smile*
