Why the Double Standard?

I certainly agree with everyone who has said Kathy Griffin's sick attempt at humor was disgusting and way beyond "inappropriate". I think it's horrible if it's true that Barron Trump actually saw that image and thought it was real. I don't think I've heard a single person defend that video, it was just plain wrong. It was wrong because of the impact it could have on Trump's 11 year old son and it was wrong because of how it could hurt the families of victims of terrorists who actually were beheaded. There's nothing funny about it...period. However, I don't recall there being such outrage when the many memes on Twitter were posted depicting former President Obama hanging from a tree. I'm sure that was very traumatic for his daughters, especially when they were even younger than Barron when their dad first took office. I don't recall anyone calling for Ted Nugent to be fired from his reality TV show after he made a "joke" shortly before the 2012 election that was a death threat against President Obama. Heck, the current resident of the White House himself made what he claimed was a "joke" about the "2nd Amendment people" taking care of his opponent Hillary Clinton during the 2016 campaign. We all know where he is now and you may know that Nugent was a recent guest at the White House. Kathy's joke was awful and I think she knows it. She apologized but the hatred towards her is unbelievable. I'm sorry but I just don't get the double standard.

Because one was about a BLACK president and one was about a WHITE REPUBLICAN one. Don't you SEE? I actually saw a good comment on Twitter today. Barron would have known if his father was alive if he actually LIVED with him.

This is one of those times when I wish there was still the feature where I could give you a "star" rating! Yes, I agree but I figured if I said it I'd get accused of "playing the race card". I know it's not always about race but sometimes it just is and really can't and shouldn't be ignored.

@anniepa Is this whole post not about playing race cards?

@GrayViolator99 Why would you say that? The last time I looked Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump were the same race and yet she's been held to a much higher standard than him.

I think somewhere in the corner of her heart she got some dislike for Mr. Obama, I too hate him but we should know what to post and what not. Sometimes it will have a very damaging effect.

I'm sorry but I'm not sure I follow you. Are you saying Kathy Griffin also dislikes President Obama? I never got that impression. I knew she wasn't a "fan" of Trump's but I never saw or heard her get quite so graphic until that video came out.

I dont reallty think there is a double Standard because there had been anti-Trump Jokes on Tv that is well received like Alec Baldwin at SNL. The Obama one you mentioned didnt get as much outrage because it is not done by a celebrity as most celebrities are pro-Obama. Also both sides have their fair share of stink.

I agree and I think many more ordinary people would be outraged but some stories just get a lot more attention than others. I'm a total news junkie and have been for years and I watch the so-called "liberal" network MSNBC more than any other and even they gave a great deal more coverage to this story about Kathy than they ever did to any of the attacks on President Obama or other Democrats.

Was it intended as a joke? I have seen photos of Kathy Griffin posing alongside Donald Trump. If she were friends before with Trump then I must wonder if there were ulterior motives for that photo. While there is a double standard in condemning her action, I believe many people think she isn't being honest about why she pose for the photo.

I've sure never heard of them being "friends" but maybe she did pose for a photo with him at some point in her career, I don't know. I know she can't stand him now, I've seen her on various shows prior to this current scandal talking about how sickening he is, which she is certainly right. I'm not sure you what mean about people believing she's not being honest.

@josie_ I absolutely have my doubts about Barron watching it and I've said so several times. I don't believe for one minute that he was traumatized or that he "thought it was real". However, I sure do NOT believe Kathy Griffin is actually a friend and supporter of Trump.

@anniepa _The whole "beheading" episode seems scripted. We will have to let things play out and hopefully the truth will come out. Don't you wonder about the truth that Barron Trump happened to be watching it?

Nope, she simulated a beheading. I don't think Nugent stood there with a mock up of Obama's severed head did he? Picture - Thousand Words. Life-like Model - Who knows?

Nugent actually THREATENED the President so that's far worse and I'm surprised he didn't get arrested.

@anniepa Don't think Griffin was arrested was she? Its a fine line in entertainment I guess.
