Now that she built it,,,,,

I mentioned yesterday about the bird who was building a nest in a very narrow spot under our roof eave. I said how we would probably knock it down because the location was not a good location (right above where we sit on the porch), but this morning, we noticed the nest is fully built and the bird seems happy. So, my husband just told me, he would probably let it stay. He said he would feel kind of guilty if he knocked it down.

Really we feels. Without even having any hands...these birds weave beautiful nests with their talent and hardwork.

It really is amazing how they do such intricate and perfect work on the nests.

I am glad he took this decision, because I felt sad knowing you were going to know the nest down.

At one of the public swimming pools I manage, we have had a family of small birds (not sure what kind they are) build a nest inside our lifeguard office every year for about the past 6 years. There is just enough gap under the door for the small birds to squeeze through (the lifeguard office is not air conditioned, and so is not sealed up tight). We have open cubbies for our lifeguards to store their personal belongings when they come to work, and the birds make a nest in one of the cubbies every year. Our staff always looks forward to the birds returning each year, and they go out of their way to protect the little ones when they hatch from their eggs. And it's always fun when they try to learn to fly, because they will crash into everything (and everyone) in the office.

The bird does seem happy. As I type this, I can faintly hear it chirping outside near where the nest is.
