Hello Summer!

Remember as a child when you couldn’t wait for summer to begin? How you looked forward to the endless days of carefree living? Well, it's here, and just because you aren't a child anymore doesn't mean you can't enjoy the season to its fullest! This summer, channel your inner child and rediscover the joys of summer. It's a great time for vacationing or spending time outdoors with family and friends. And remember to laugh and be silly. Chase fireflies around your yard. Fire up the barbecue grill and have a cookout. Make memorable moments this summer – it will be gone before you know it. What do you have planned this summer?

When I was a kid I was at the pool every day. Now, I'm at the YW almost every day in the pool. The only thing lacking is the bright overhead sun. Plans this summer - getting both knees replaced and the fourth book in the series published. It should be out in August.

I used to be a pool rat too. I practically lived at the pool. Now, I manage all the municipal pools in our city, and so when I have free time I try to stay as far away from swimming pools as I can! haha I'm starting to feel my knees go bad, so hopefully that doesn't mean I'll need them replaced in the future. But after more than a decade of playing competitive basketball, I know I'm in for a rough time in the future. My knees took a beating playing ball. Hope everything goes well with your knee replacements, and that your book publishing is very successful!

@moffittjc Thanks on both counts. Looking forward to both. I imagine your knees took quite a beating playing basketball. I hope you can wait a few years yet before you need them replaced.

@moffittjc Can you believe I have never been bothered by a mosquito in this state? I live in CO. I guess the climate is so dry here, they never appear to me anyway. Now AR was another matter..mosquitoes, flies, you name it. I always cover up in the sun with an umbrella, I have to. It never used to bother me, but now I have to as I have pre skin cancer.

@TiarasOceanView That is amazing that you have not been bothered by mosquitos in Colorado! Maybe I should move there. No mosquitos, and much less heat and humidity than what I deal with here in Florida!

@LadyDuck I always enjoy the beach when I have the chance to go. Unfortunately, I don't have as much time to go as I would like. But that just means I make the most of each trip I am able to take!

@moffittjc that's wonderful, Jeff :) . Yeah, Autumn and Spring are my favourite seasons. I love the cooler nights after too much heat and then the warmer nights after too many chilly nights. We're heading into spring fast, I am already walking around in t-shirts. :)

I did all of that and more this summer! Besides all the rain we've been getting, it's been a fantastic summer. I'm almost sad that it's going to end, but thankfully autumn is my favorite season of the year! Are you looking forward to spring?

I fully intend to enjoy as much of the summertime as I can. Watching my granddaughter outside playing in the dirt while I turn over the garden bed is fun. We found some worms that I coaxed her into bringing to Grampy. She at first objected to holding the squirmy, slimy thing in her little hands, but then quickly brought them to him. What a face she made! Hoping to get some fishing in soon. Love to cast a line and relax. Hoping for a trout dinner soon!

@moffittjc I thought my husband would keep the worms that I found. Worms are now almost $4 for a dozen or more worms. That is crazy!

When my daughter was about 5 or 6 years old, she would go out in our backyard and dig up worms. I came home from work one day and she had a big bucket full of worms! I was like, "man, we need to go fishing right now!" haha

I usually don't enjoy my summers. It's my busiest time of year at work, and I sometimes find myself having to work 7 days a week with no break (the joys of being a salaried employee). Plus, Florida is so hot and muggy in the summer, that the only way I could enjoy it would be to go on vacation somewhere else! haha

@JudyEv Oh goodness, I forgot about that! That would probably drive me crazy if I went to another country where they drove on the opposite side of the road! What's that like? Is it confusing, because your brain is wired to think a certain way due to all the years of driving in Australia? I have never driven in a country where they drive on the opposite side of the road, but I visit the Bahamas all the time and they drive on the left side of the road. Just riding in taxi cabs feels weird for me being on the left side of the road instead of the right.

I have already vacationed in Minnesota and spent time with the grandkids. Zoos, parks, walks, etc. Tomorrow we are going to a local festival. I was outside a lot today. Most of it work, but it was okay. Some of that work is gardening. I was out the back door and saw fireflies just now.

I read somewhere recently that fireflies were in decline for decades, but in the past several years have made a huge resurgence. Scientists aren't exactly sure why they're making a comeback, but I'm glad they are. I remember as a child chasing hundreds of fireflies in my backyard.

It would be nice to be as carefree as we were when we were children and do whatever we'd like during the summer months, but alas most of us have other things to attend to first like our jobs. One day will come, though, when we may still have enough energy to do some of the things you listed. There are many things we can do to bring out the inner child and most of those things are free.

I like your way of thinking! Yes, most of the things in life that can bring out our inner child are free, it's such a shame that so many people value material things and possessions over all those wonderful free things we could be doing that truly make us feel alive and carefree!

The summer is coming to an end. As my first trip during this summer I am going to a holy place. Of course, a little bit late. But, there also, the summer was severe. Anyhow, I am reaching there by 9th of this month, I would have gone there at the beginning itself, The next month I am going to Banaras.
